So 'On the Road' is set for 2009...

and Neal Cassady is coming out this next year? Is it now the beat generation's turn to get perverted by Hollywood? We saw what they did with Hippies and the psychadelic movement, this cannot be good. If On the Road has any form of success at the box office, you know Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is coming next... and then perhaps an animated adaptation of 'Howl' with penguins. Oh god...

Hey they'll probably make a Hell's Angels with Hunter Thompson played by Ben Affleck or something. they should have cinema releases of books with no film, people will buy the ticket and in the theatre will just be a guy reading the book to the audience, maybe the masses will understand.
Our only hope is Saul Williams...or Jehst.

....get ahold of some bad acid again?

reply

No, sir. How do you figure?

Don't fear Hollywood. If the film causes a new generation to read the works of Kerouac, Kesey, Burroughs, Ginsberg, Cassady, Wolfe, etc. then Hollywood did something right imo.

i think the problem is that even if they read it they wont really READ it.

my money goes on that they dont even bother to read it.

Nothing like that beat lover's pretention - "How could anyone possibly be as smart as I am? Nobody can truly experiance life but me...and all the strangers in the world are sheep and drones, regardless of the fact that I've yet to meet them. They couldn't possibly be as smart as I am.

That is one hell of a dumb, elitist response. Anyone who has a soul or has ever felt the need for the journey that is inherent in all of us can 'READ' the Beats you arrogant, pompous jackass.

reply

that was in no way an elitist response. i was not saying people arent SMART enough to read it I am saying a lot of people wont take the time to truly try and understand it. Jeez...

Why did you feel the need to insult another person because of his opinion? What's with the insults?
