Note to SoapNet!

Please stop shoving this show down viewer's throats! You cannot watch anything without seeing like 15 promos for this show. Why do networks feel the need to promote shows to death? This is exactly why I will not watch a show like this. I will be downgrading my cable package very shortly.

Have you actually WATCHED the show? It's awesome...

Give it a try and you'll see.

Maybe it is a good show, I don't know. That's not really my point. My point is that I'm sick of networks shoving their shows down people throats especially during other shows. They promote them to the point where it gets very annoying. TVLand does it. FX does it. TBS did it with that Frank Caliendo show in which they aired like 10 weeks of constant promos while the show itself only lasted five weeks. Some networks put promos in the left hand corner which is really annoying. If they are really good shows, people will watch and word of mouth will spread. Showing promos like every 5 minutes for a show tells me that the network is desperate for viewers to watch the show.

SoapNet is not helping the show and alienating viewers by airing like 15 promos for the show like every hour. Next time you watch a show on SoapNet, count how many promos for "MVP" are shown both during the show and in commercials. I counted like 12 the other day. I'll bet you that the ratings for "MVP" would be the same whether they show 2 promos per hour or 12 promos per hour. It just amazes me how greedy the networks have gotten. I think that while watching TV anymore, my level of annoyment exceeds my level of enjoyment. That is why I may just cancel my cable subscription and use that money toward seasons of shows on DVD.

MVP is new to their network so of course they're going to promo the hell out of it but it's not like it's the only show they promo, they do it to all of their shows....besides, who really sticks around while commericals are on anyway?

reply

if it wasn't for all the commercials I would keep forgetting to watch it.

Since I know there is only 1 season and was cancelled. I refuse to get into it so I just watch it when it replays.

It is a fun little show, too bad it ended at 10 eppies.

@ phsdude5....I agree. I just stumbled upon the show while flipping through channels this morning and I immmediately fell into it...... especially after seeing the gorgeousness that is "Damon". I'm hearing that there wont be a second season. Pity. I'm really enjoying it.

reply

Oops...sorry but I just started another thread about this same complaint. I could have sworn I didn't see another thread about it. So sorry. But I agree wholeheartedly. Too much exposure!

reply

This may not be the correct place for this, but I didn't want to start a new thread. I would like to see the original Canadian version. Not that it's different but they keep beeping out curse words and there's a preview online that shows Trevor's butt when the lady grabs his towel in a previous episode. American's are too uptight about language and nudity. AND this show is on at 11 on a cable station that's not on most people's standard cable. At least it wasn't on mine and I paid extra to get it since I watch SOAPnet and The N so much.
Ok, end rant
