I recently watched this film ad found it to be very well made for the Genre and country. No it's not a brilliant film by any means, but I genuinely enjoyed watching it. Not to mention watching Aimi. Since I'm the first to post here I doubt anyone else will see this, but hey! you never know.
I'm watching it right now, it is not that gory, but it can be scary and disturbing, not the best horror movie, but worth checking out.
And to the post above... "for the genre and country"??? really?? Japanese horror movies are known for their originality and for being really good, so actually, "for the genre and country" I was expecting it to be better! At least it is better than any American "sucky" and tacky horror movie nowadays.

That maybe was true 8-10 years ago, nowadays is extremly hard to find anything original and good in the J-Horror (I'd say the last great horror movies from Japan are Noroi and Zoo...and they are from 2005) Though I think this movie it's not bad at all, but it hasn't anything special. At least it's much better than the short stories of Tales of Terror from Tokyo...
I agree with the above poster. Japanese were once experimental in the genre of horror but these days its become so formulatic that the only person its going to be original to is some ignorant schoolboy who just got into it. Korean horror was where it was at even a few years back but that is also now drying up. Doesn't mean decent enjoyable horror doesn't come out of these countries but the glory days are past people.
When you first start watching the horror movies from different cultures, the approach is new to you. Their sensibilities and concerns are not your own and so their take on the disturbing or horrific seems fresh. As you get used to their view, it seems less fresh. As to this film, I offered the following views: http://opionator.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/tales-of-terror-haunted-apar tment/
