Joshua's baby tormenting tape = massive piece of evidence

If I could pick one flaw in this film, it's that Joshua gave his dad ironclad evidence that he was responsible for his mother's breakdown.

There's no reason his dad would use the tape to prove that his son was a psycho ... unless he was still trying to protect Joshua.

good point why didnt use the tape , big plot hole

Yeah but what does the tape really prove to anyone who doesn't know Joshua and is not familiar with his other behaviors? That a kid is jealous of the attention his newborn sister is getting and makes her cry? Did it ever show what he did to make her cry? I'm not defending what he did, but viewed out of context it's not really ironclad proof of anything by itself except that he was being a little sh*t. It doesn't prove his intent was to drive his mother literally insane.

Lets see the video, search a kids room and bam...all; those colored sick pictures we all see at the end of the movie, animals death at school, the death of the dog at home, grandmothers death and the mother not finding the baby when she is playing hide n seek with Joshua. Way to many things going on in just a short short amount of time. Why not go and ask the mom about things where she was taken as well.

the video showed absolutely nothing. the pictures were apparently faked to support the thought they he was being abused (although admittedly, that is not clear). Nobody saw him push grandmother. Abbey went completely insane by the time the hide and seek episode happened and had no credibility. Additionally, The dad was accused of tampering with her meds. Certainly there was enough for an investigation but nothing iron clad. But the movie ended so we will never know if he completely got away with it. I would assume the uncle would do some digging after that creepy song at the end.

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.

The video alone holds no proof. Chances are had he shown that video to anyone he would have been looked at as having munchausen by proxy or something ridiculous. Sociopaths are incredibly adept at manipulation and if you have one that's a child, well, you're fighting a losing battle.
