What was that look on the uncles face at the end??

What was that look on his uncles face at the end? why did he look like that? i really wish things were wrapped up more. i want to know what happens with Joshua...would he end up killing his baby sister? would he kill his uncle? just drives me crazy not knowing.

reply

I think the uncle made the face because he correctly interpreted from Joshua's lyrics that he did all that bad stuff to be with him (the uncle)
...Which is why the movie is stupid.

We can't stop here. This is bat country!

reply

I sorta agree with you. Maybe he is tired of living with his family and wants to be with his uncle, who seems to have a better understanding of him. Other interpretation like the uncle is the boy's real father is also reasonable to me.

reply

He knew he was stuck with a f'ed up kid when he listened to what Joshua was singing, and his face shows that. Great acting.

reply

That scene was kind of werid because up until the freeze-frame, it kind of seemed like the uncle was “in on it”, like he was schemeing with Joshua the whole time. But the look at the end clearly indicates that he suddenly saw Joshua for what he was because of the song and he was chilled. That look also makes it it unlikely that the uncle is Joshua’s father.

Yes. Not his father AT ALL.....just realizing that the kid he had a fondness for created the whole turmoil.

Was there such a theory, that the uncle is Joshua's father?????

How would that work exactly? He and his sister had a child???

reply

That would be the point of the theory, that Joshua is the product of incest, and that is what caused his psychopathy. Genetics tells us that children of incest are at higher risk of all kinds of hereditary disorders; perhaps they could also end up with a mental issue such as sociopathy.

I thought the uncle was gay in any case.

reply

That doesn’t mean it’s impossible that they could have been drunk one night and “experimented” (if I recall correctly, they did quite a bit of drinking in the movie).

Sorry, I don't see one iota of any basis for such a theory in the movie.

"Siblings are there for each other at weird times."

There's at least one iota.

reply

Well, he watched when Farmiga was pumping som breast milk.

reply

Pumping breast milk is not sexual. It's like making a sandwich for your kid.

Consider writing SPOILER in the title of a discussion that might contain them. It’s the simple and nice thing to do.

reply

If you look up the lyrics of the song he's playing, it's understandable why the uncle would be slightly terrified. In the context of the film, the lyrics are eerily appropriate.

reply

I thought he made up the lyrics then and there to describe his situation?

Please, don't say a word more... or the producers will find out there's an audience for Joshua 2, Joshua 3, Joshua's Sister, Joshua After Death, Joshua's Resurrection, Joshua Lives, Joshua vs Jason, Joshua: The Beginning, Joshua: The New Beginning, Joshua's Bride...

LOL! Let's hope not.

Oh no! We could get a sequel with a grown Lily! They'd have to dig up one of Tarantino's scream queens to equal that kid's lung power, though!

that was the best explanation. I was dying of laughter with your explanation because its so true. I LOVE IT.

Heath Ledger Come Back,

@przgzr

Ha ha ha ha ha! Damn, that's funny, because you know that's exactly how it would go! And we haven't even gotten to Joshua:The Next Generation and a whole batch of sequels/prequels from that, then there would be a cable TV show based on it,and even a graphic comic book novel!

Maybe it just showed that even the evil genuis like Joshua can't plan everything. I mean, where it's said that the uncle HAVE TO keep Joshua? Of course, the uncle can't prove anything to anyone, but he can just give Joshua to an orphanage. Noone can make the uncle keep Joshua is he doesn't want to.

His uncle realized from Joshua's song, what Joshua had done and why.

Something that is kinda misleading is when people tell you go look up the lyrics for the song, because yes it's a real song by Dave Matthews band, which makes you think oh the kid heard the song and is singing his uncle song by Dave Matthews. But the song was written for this movie by Dave Matthews, meaning in the context of this movie, Joshua himself composed and wrote this song to play for his uncle, leaving no room for any misinterpretation, that hey it's just a Dave Matthews song, because in the movie it's not, it's the song Joshua wrote for his uncle.
