Superb film, until the ending

I thoroughly enjoyed the film, especially the somewhat dreamy, estranged Paul Dano. Great acting, also Brian Cox of course. The script was great, always balancing between the absurd and tragic.

*spoiler alert*

The ending however was a huge disappointment. How corny can it be? Lucas dead in a car accident, his heart goes to his new found friend who lives happily ever after on a sunny island. Yuck!
