Mikal *Spoilers*

Mikal definitely should have been the survivor. Until his last scene (where they threw out all his character development), he was an absolutely great character with some really good development. Actually, he's the only well-developed or likeable one in the film.

I didn't like Jannicke at all. Generic, bland, and uninteresting. Ugh.

Agree. Totally would've made a great survivor. He was cute too.

reply

He was a loser and deserved the pick axe, unlike Jannicke who rocks.

reply

Not really. Until they (literally) threw his character development out the window, he was fantastic. Jannicke was a lame, generic stereotype with zero depth.

We clearly have differing opinions.

Alright, let's bring in facts. You tell me how Jannicke is any different than a stereotypical heroine

No I would be giving you my opinion about Jannicke not necessarily facts. You seem to have a little trouble distinguishing between the two. Your concept of what constitutes a stereotype might be completely different to someone else.

reply

There are, however, facts about her character (For example, the one guy who sacrifices himself to save her was a jokester and had a crush on her.) You can use these to explain why she's a great/developed/etc. character in your view rather than accuse me of being wrong then retreat when I ask for an explanation and act like you were always of the "Opinions cannot be discussed in any way" band (In which case, why are you on an internet forum?)

Now you're just babbling.

I simply find it rather difficult to discuss issues with posters who claim their opinions are facts. Most of the facts about film are to be found in places such as the IMDB web-site, not your postings, like it or lump it.

Mikal was th most irrational character. I actually got surprised that he lived for so long. He sees what seems to be blood in the tub but ignores it. When he and Jannicke finally realize something's wrong in the place, they don't seem worried enough to leave the place or lock themselves in some room right away. Later, Mikal risks his life to find someone who's obviously dead.

I'm not criticising him for not being rational, nobody is under such circumstances, but his behavior was far riskier than that of the rest.

He was unbelievably stupid when he decided to look for the dead girl, then I was surprised by how smart he was when he hid on the roof/hid behind the ski...until suddenly he became stupid again when he got busted in the cabin and got himself killed. I think his intelligence was very inconsistent and the script writer was kinda lazy.

And yes, Jannicke didn't deserve to be the sole survivor. If I were her, I would abandon the wounded friend, and her boyfriend too. She took too many stupid risks. LOL

P.S. I just watched the film and saw lots of posts by you on this message board. You were very critical and made a lot of valid points. I enjoyed reading your posts.
