very pleasant surprise

wow, that was not a bad movie ! it's a classy B-Movie one of those we don't see anymore, it's not a horror movie but more of a fantastic movie, lot of blood but it is expected.

i was pleasantly surprised by the choices & reactions of the protagonists which all seemed realistic according to the context of a "horror" movie, something which is pretty rare in the horror/fantastic genre these days (you know what i mean).

to sum it up :
- interesting ideas
- nice fx (no cheap cgi you can spot miles away)
- an ok atmosphere could have been better with less music
- acting is ok, and people don't scream every seconds for nothing

in the B-movie genre (you can go so far with that kind of story) it's well done and it's a refreshing change from the cheap thrill that is spewed these days.

go for it if you like the genre !

Oh yes I agree, I thrive off of B-movies, I also believe that the same company that made " Black Sheep" [its about were-sheep] also made this, if it is, the FX were done by WETA i believe, the acting is really decent for a B-movie, and yes It truly did need less music, or at least make it to where the music is barely noticeable during the important scenes.

Utter garbage, a total embarrassement for all involved.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose. You can't please everyone.

I watched this flick last night and I throughly enjoyed it!

If America had made this movie, I don't think it would have come off even close to this. They would have filled it with screaming teenagers and boring cliches.

I know what I want for Christmas now anyway...

I WANT AN IMMORTALITY KNIFE!

Saw the last hour of this last night. As a B movie it was mildly diverting, just because I'll watch about any crappy movie late at night on Sci-Fi.

In no way was I surprised, and certainly not pleasantly.

This was a B (or C) movie in every sense, the acting blew, the production values were crappy and the sound editing was poor.

Lame.

It wasnt too bad except for seeing John rhys-davies shirtless almost half of the movie.

reply

Better than seeing him underwear-less.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

That guy who said this movie is one of his fav's of 07'...must have only watched this, the notebook, and Delta Farce that whole year.

I thought it was a little more realistic in treatment of horror than most films.

My three biggest qualms were the constant cuts to horrific faces or bodies for no reasons, the damn ferryman always showing up and never really getting there, and the whole "I'm not a nurse" because I killed a burnt girl who magically saved me later bs.

It was definitely an interesting film and I was left pleasantly surprised. Hell I had just watched Crazy Eights and that was bar none a really really bad movie.
