fantastic, this was all that kANK tried to be

once in a while a movie that competely bowls u over comes along, for the lack of any other interesting dvd over xmas i borrowed BAS EK PAAL. boy was i impressed, everything about this movie was magic, the screen play, the perfomances, the music, wow. this was everything KANK tried to be, whilst that was complete commercial crap, this was realism. Kudos to sanjay suri, what an actor. Cant wait for Onirs next.

Actually even a Karan Johar film would have a more believable plot than this movie. Not too many plausible things happening in the story. To make the story work, we must believe that all the characters are really stupid.

At least in KANK we know the characters are stupid to begin with. I mean, they aren't pretending to manage their lives with even the slightest bit of emotional intelligence. They are even too clueless to notice they're in bad marriages.

In Bas Ek Pal, Nikhil Kapoor is stupid enough to brawl with somebody who pulls a gun on him - why? Let's assume it's possible that a superficial encounter (with someone as insipid and boring as Anamika - she even LOOKS boring.. blonde streaks, how unique) can generate strong feelings in Nikhil. How, then, could he endanger her as well as his friends (and other people in the club) by brawling with a guy who has a gun?

And how could Steve possibly have had the presence of mind (how could anyone..) to use the situation to hurt Rahul? It is a totally unexpected incident AND happened in seconds.

Ira's character is too unbelievable. She goes to Nikhil to save him at the end instead of calling the police or seeking help to stop her husband who is carrying a GUN. Right.. You know, guns are treated less like toys in even RGV's films.

This movie is a big fake. Not anywhere near the quality of Onir's 'My Brother Nikhil.' And Urmila Matondkar is completely overwrought as usual. Her moronic histrionics surface in almost every movie she is in and this completely ruins any shred of believability.. and there wasn't much in this movie to begin with. I can't believe an actor as seasoned as Juhi Chawla would pick such an awful movie to star in.

If you still want to fool yourself and think this movie is good, at least pick up a good movie to watch - like Dahan (Bengali) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0143202/ - about how human relationships fall apart after "grave" incidents.
