Abby and Connor just don't cut it as the stars of the show.

A couple seasons ago when Cutter was temporarily MIA Lester dryly remarked that the two of them leading the team was like Scooby-Doo and Velma in action. Well that works as well for them as show-leaders. The comic relief characters just don't work as the focus.

I miss Cutter.

btw, did they ever resolve the inconvenience of this being a new timeline for Earth? A different personality Lucy Brown et al.

I agree. Even though I have seen a few episodes of season 4 and 5, I've officially stopped being a fan after the end of the 3rd season. Hell, I was just getting attached to Danny has a replacement for Cutter in season 3.

Thanks but assuming that is coming up in Season 3 I'll hold off. I left off at the end of Season 2 and I see Season 3 is starting to run again so I'll catch up there. Cutter and Helen still live, and the sidekicks are still comic relief. As it should be.

But seeing out of order the ep 4 Lucy Brown wedding episode it appears the timeline wasn't ever mended.

Darn Henshall for prematurely bailing out.

That was actually my sig. It's from Farscape, the best scifi show ever!

You need to give it another go. You will start liking Matt.

Becker, Abby and Connor make this show amazing but they can't take it all the way. Matt does fill the gap!

I love those two. Last night's show was sad. Poor Abby.

How do we know for an absolute fact that hard work never killed anyone?

reply

I think Abby and Connor are great, as well as the rest of the cast! I love this show, it is one of my faves. I was a fan after the 1st episode and I still remain one.

reply

Connor and Abby are my favorites they have come a long way I think they are perfect as the top stars.

reply

I liked Cutter and as the leader of the group he was great but don't diss Abby and Connor, they more than step up to the role. To call them just the comedy relief would be a mistake. In the later seasons they showed that they were the most important in the team.

Abby, Conner, and Danny when he was on the show are far better than any of the new people cast after the second season. Its like ITV wants the show to be gone so that they can put more of that trash (trailer park) TV on.

At this point I can't recall the name of a single one of the new characters. I agree with you completely, but that is damning Abby and Connor with faint praise.

"With Cutter murdered, it became more of a true ensemble cast. For example, Lester came forward in development and actually became likeable."

Well not truly an ensemble case. Abby and Connor were still the primary characters, ie the stars. And personally I always liked Lester. I think it would have been a more interesting show if he had become the focus character with Abby and Connor remaining the comic relief. Bringing back some maturity to the show Cutter as had previously provided.

It's not I dislike either Abby or Connor. They were simply too lightweight for the demands placed on them. It would be much like Wesley Crusher suddenly and permanently replacing Captain Picard.

At times like these, I really hate being right!

This is the fundamental implausibility factor in every single time travel film that's ever been made, always walking both sides of the explanation. Well, it's either different times lines (parallel worlds) or it isn't, if it's different times lines, we're not changing anything, just adding time lines, if it's not times lines and we're really "changing history", then almost everything would be different, not just the career choices of a single character, of course, that would depend on if the "change" was in the last 5 minutes or the last decade or the last century or the last millenium... the farther the date, the more change would come about.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
