trendy rubbish,should be a children's schools programme

I cannot believe how bad this is.
I have only seen the second episode, but I doubt I will bother with the rest.
The acting is fine,Horrocks is a good actress, but I do not like the script and style of the programme.

The idea is a good one,but in the real world the evil political parties and pressure groups, unions and political anoraks actually makes politics work.
It is easy to slag off existing political figures, but if you look at the lives of many politicians you will see they are mostly real people who have life experiences outside politics.
People in politics do develop skills in their job just like anybody else.

Countries which have lots of political parties in power are badly run.

The programme is simplistic and populist.
If a political party such as the one in this programme was formed it would have to have some sort of political identity,it would have to be a little left or a little right.

If the idea of the thing is to explain politics to people who are not interested in it then perhaps it is a good idea, but the execution of the idea is flawed.

Yes, I agree, the programme is simplistic, but it's a fantasy drama and that's easy to see. It's not supposed to be a serious look at what would happen if someone like Ros got into power. Sally Wainwright isn't stupid, she knows such a thing couldn't happen, she's simply created a 'what if' scenario and taken it to it's extremes.

The point of the programme is not to explain politics to anyone. It's a drama, a piece of entertainment that is making a slight point about voter apathy and the problem with modern politics. It's not a politics masterclass for the masses.

I WAS WRONG
I WAS WRONG
I WAS WRONG.
After being very critical of this in my original post I must now admit that I was wrong.
It turned out to be a good human drama which explained the British political scene well,it was not as simple as I first thought it was.
If it is repeated I would recommend you to watch it.

WOW, such an avid convert!
Rarely does someone do such a turn on imdb. Good on you though to admit it :-) I was shocked how short it was, am far too used to american series which are around 20 episodes. I very well excpected the next episode this week and was rather confused when it was not on the tv listings!
Anyway this is a little like the US commander in Chief and i was very glad to see the BBC have a stab at it. In the 6 episodes it had more twists and plot than the US drama, as well as a bit more edgy realism. Well done BBC!

I'm quite enjoying it on Masterpiece Theater myself. I see it as a fable.

I don't think systems with an elected head of state are any wiser. Just look at how that ignoramus Bush got elected in 2004.

He was barely elected and his party was nearly voted out of Congress in 2006. Representative democracy isn't always quick.
