i just read the manga artist who wrote Mushishi is going to publish two more stories of Mushishi, and they will adapt them into a one hour long anime special early next year so yey!

This is probably my all time favorite anime series besides Ghost in the Shell. So I'm a happy camper indeed after hearing this unexpected piece of good news.
After a quickie google search it seems that earlier this month the production of an entire 2nd season was announced.
