first of all to the intellectual bandwagon that will surely abuse this movie.. up yours!
this was a great entertainer.. salman looked like a million dollars & his accent wasnt even annoying this time, govinda as usual was a masterclass in comedy, his timing was fantastic, the movie moved at a fast pace, there wasnt much of a story & thats fine coz we wrent expecting one to begin with.
All in all , a great way to spend 2.5 hrs, i give this one a grand 9.
Someone who could not even spell entertainment correctly in his post. Do you want me to see sense of humor there??
Dude, 99 percent of bollywood movies that become hits are *beep* in their content. This was an attempted rip off from "hitch" which they got confused and made it into a story of two friends. It is not hard for me to understand now that only people like you enjoy such a mess called a movie.I guess you and your favourite govinda share the same I.Q for humor.
The best indian film ever made is "black friday". Thats fantastic entertainment, not this piece of crap.
My friend its you who need good humor not me. Watch Hrishikesh mukherjee's films you will unerstand what humor is all about.
i like black friday my dear major in english.. whats wrong in ripping off a hollywood movie, if the end result is hilarious??.. hope my grammars ok this time mate? whats ur fav hindi comedy?? ps it was also a rip off of the ice cube movie where he has to drop the kids home, cant remember the name.
Give me a break, 40 year old virgin, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels & me Myself & Irene are pathetic movies. You can tolerate Jim Carrey's Nonsense then why not Govinda? He is way better than Jim Carrey.
dont take the movie seriously and you'll enjoy it. dont expect a black friday from david dhawan...you go to his movies, and you know what you're going to get.
I have been watching david dhawan's films since his shola aur shabnam days. so i know what to expect from the man. I never expected a black friday only a retard person would do that. All i expected was a decent comedy. The only time i laughed in the theatre was the last 10 minutes during the honeymoon sequence. The rest of the film was disapoointing even by david dhawan's standards it was a major letdown. His last good film was mujhse shaadi karogi. Partner was really bad no matter how much you try to defend it.
Atleast there should be some sense in the scenes man. Iam not even expecting a script but atleast they should know how to play out a scene. During katrina kaif's marriage sequence Dilip tahil is shown as business tycoon who is abt to get her married to some firang and he is shown as a strong minded person but when lara dutta's kid objects to the marriage he agrees to him. Tell me is that the kind of crap you find entertaining ?
I can have a taste for david dhawan mindless comedies but i cant bear such regressive piece of cinema !!
Unstoppable. That's one word that does justice to Govinda and Salman Khan's antics in PARTNER. That's also the word that best describes the film's run at the box-office.
The latest David Dhawan laughathon had a dream start at the ticket window and continues to rock big time as I pen this piece. The thunderous start coupled with the superb feedback from the paying public has only resulted in the film faring exceptionally well across all screens - from multiplexes to single screens, from metros to mini-metros to smaller towns.
It wouldn't be erroneous to state that very rarely does a film work its charm across the spectrum. Sometimes multiplexes work, but single screens don't. And vice-versa. The business is divided most of the times. But PARTNER continues to record excellent collections everywhere. The business at smaller centres got a fillip thanks to AAP KAA SURROOR first and PARTNER now, which is bringing in big returns from these centres as well.
What worked?
* One, the Salman - Govinda - David Dhawan team aroused tremendous curiosity.
* Two, the songs worked big time and like I've always maintained, good music is akin to an icing on the cake.
* Three, the promotion [quality and quantity] was excellent.
so you are david dhawan or his net savvy P.A ??????
NO one else can actually think this film is a solid entertainer...
Golmaal (original) was a solid entertainer, hera pheri (new one) was an entertainer, classic in comedy, never will get old
this crap fest was barely coherent stupidity trying to emulate hitch in a desperate manner...
and they said uwe boll was a bad director.. david dhawan can top 100s of uwe boll, incase some ghatis dont know who talented mr Boll is. THIS IS IMDB find out...
This is YOUR LIFE and it is ending one minute at a time!
yep khosla ka ghosla was a very smart comedy as was bheja fry.. theres a diff between an intelligent comedy & a masala one like partner, no entry, mujse shaadi karogi etc.. all said & done partners a block buster.
To be honest, I though Partner was an ok movie. Of course, it is nothing compared to Hitch, but certain aspects of the movie made it watchable. There were some funny parts of the movie, and even one or two hilarious moments that allowed me to enjoy. Once I stopped comparing it to the American counterpart, it didn't turn out as boring as I expected it to be.
However, I'm not saying this was a great movie, nor even a great comedy. There were many things I disliked about the movie as well:
First of all, it was way too exaggerated! Govinda is a good actor in certain roles (such as in Salaam-E-Ishq), but his overacting got way too annoying at times.
Secondly, the fact that it was copied from Hitch annoyed me. If they are trying to rip a movie, they should at least change some of the context. A lot of the individual scenes were exactly lifted off from Hitch, which says something about David Dhawan's ability to come up with something even remotely original.
The third thing I hated was some of the comedy. The stupid rhymes that were supposed to come across as jokes were almost unbearable. The Chota Don concept was just stupid. It seemed like they just flooded the movie with jokes, a very small percentage of which turned out to be funny.
Also (on a different note), I agree with jai84 in the fact that Khosla Ka Ghosla was hilarious compared to this. It pisses me off to see a movie like rip-off movie like Partner making so much money, while a brilliantly scripted and original movie like Khosla Ka Ghosla doing poorly in comparison.
To be honest this was the biggest load of bullcrap I had ever seen in my life.I thought it would have been a fair pairing & a experimental comedy but *SIGH* I was just asking too much. Not only was it a blatant rip-off from Hitch but it had Salman with his usual over-the-top comedy style. The only real thing which I found amusing in this movie was the character of Chotta Don played by Rajpal Yadav. That was a true entertaining moment.
I have to admit was just watching this movie for the sake of it & also for Katrina to some extent. It was a lousy & pathetic film.Even if I left whole of my brain out at home & watched this I would have lost it.I am slowly loosing faith in quality Indian cinema. There hasn't been a good comic movie since a long time. The last one which I genuinely found funny was Golmaal & Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.Apart from that all were either rehashes a laPhir Hera Pheri or in the same league as Partner.
Looks like we seriously need to sit back & think about creatively.Something which was as innovative on the lines of Hera Pheri.
What about the Munna Bhai movies, those were definitely funny (at least the first one).
And if you haven't seen Khosla Ka Ghosla, then you should watch that. While it doesn't emphasize comedy with jokes and punch lines, it is a great movie with a slightly humorous element.
The first thing that aally_v needs to get to his head is that a block-buster movie doesn't mean it's good. Tons of movies that are just brilliant are released and struggle at the box office whereas *beep* like epic movie top at the box office. It just had a lot of hype around and it and it payed out. It's critically panned, and a lot of the viewers think the movie is horrible.
I didn't find any of the stupid Chota Don stuff funny, I thought the missile chasing salmaan was embarassing, and every lifted scene was done a hundred times better in Hitch. THey all overacted, and it's completely by me how Salmaan is even considered a good actor. The comedic timing was simply horrible too.
