Any place in the US to see Tatort?

My independent station (MHZ) is one of the only places I know to see this and we only get the Colgne eps. Am I the only one in the states watching?

reply

You're not the only one by any means. German Kino Plus is showing all the various seasons of the show. It is part of the Dish TV German Television package. No English subtitles available though.

It is broadcast in Chicago in German with open English subtitles under the name "Scene of the Crime".

It can be seen ONLY by those with DIGITAL over the air ATSC receivers and televisions.

OnlineTVRecorder.com
is the ticket to watching any German TV show. You sign up, pay a nominal fee (much less than the fees imposed on TV owners in Germany) and you can record any show broadcast in Germany from anywhere in the world. You make reservations for recordings on their server, download them and decode them(a ormality) at your leisure.
I love it: I have seen more Tatort(s) in the last year than in 30 years living in Germany

How exactly does OnlineTVRecorder.com work? Is it through your computer or your TV/DVR. Sometimes I can be really backwards when it comes to technology.

You record the programs there and when it's available you can download it as an encoded AVI file. You need a good connection to download tho, cause most files have 500MB - 1 Gig+ size. Then you use their decoder to make the file 'watchable'. Nowadays they have most movies in HQ as well and English shows are recordable too. The English forum is here http://www.otrforum.com/forumdisplay.php/100-OTR-US?s=221747076dcd1300 817057ac0650568f And if you want more than a basic account it's approximately 5$ for 6 months premium account, if you click advertises regularly it will last even longer.

So how much is the fee?

Tatort is available free online now at mediathek.daserste.de. You can watch the latest episodes live (when it's first shown in Germany) and then for a few days after. It's in German only, though. No subtitles or anything. The website has many other ARD shows as well.

reply

mediathek.daserste.de only works with a German IP address unfortunately.
www.onlinetvrecorder.com is probably the best source for viewers outside of Germany.

I watch Tatort on the ARD Mediathek without any problem and I'm in Baltimore. You can also watch live streams of older episodes most Saturday afternoons (East Coast time) on Hessischer Rundfunk and some Saturdays on Norddeutsch Rundfunk (NDR). NDR when it's on is 20:15 German time and the HR Tatort is at 21:15.

reply

This is a very incorrect statement. The Mediathek works in the United States without any problems.

Google Serienjunkies. You can find almost all German languaged TV there.

I just stumbled onto Tatort this past Saturday (20 Jun) on WLAEDT2, an independent public TV station in New Orleans (http://www.wlae.com/tvlistings/). It's in German with good English subtitles.

Just downloaded this from a file locker site with brand new English subtitles....haven't watched it yet but looks pretty popular.

I use a Roku to stream MHzChoice episodes of Tatort. The episodes I saw on the MHz channel on Xfinity had different cast members. All that said, I enjoy the series.
