sweet daddy D

I don't know why but his random interjections during the dvd really piss me off because they're so lame. Anyone else feel the same?

reply

I completely agree. It felt out of place and not funny at all. The interruptions break the rhythm of the show, which on itself is fantastic.

I mean I can kind of see what he was trying to achieve, but playing on stereotypes (Bubba J & Sweet Daddy) is cliched and not funny. I love the other characters but these ones missed the mark.

reply

Well, I understand a lot of comedy work is built upon playing with stereotypes, so I won't criticize the choice. I just felt the results of his efforts were not actually successful. But the one I really disliked was Sweet Daddy. Bubba J was not great, but ok, as well as Melvin the superhero.

Peanut, Walter and Achmed, however, are on a whole different level. They're simply outstanding!

reply

I concur

reply

Yup, felt the same way. I just wanted to hit "him" and wanted the action to get back to Jeff.

reply

Agreed. Sweet Daddy D was (imo) Dunham's weakest character, so cutting to him was cutting away from someone funnier.
