What a great idea to drop Christopher Robin!

Nothing like teaching toddlers that it's okay to ditch a friend when they are no longer cool enough.
Silly old Disney.

Yeah he will be apparently and but I can't see him as a super sleuth.

reply

Uh...Do you think toddlers even know who Christopher Robin is? I think all the hullaballoo is more of an adult thing. And why does nobody ever remember at the end of the last Pooh book when he says he'll be seeing less of Pooh now because he's growing up and going to school? So this new series is perhaps MORE true to the books in that regard...

... my two year old does.

I think there are a few adults with "issues" this show is for the pre-schoolers and they are going mad for it in England. Christopher will be appearing just not so much so we will have to wait and see how things are explained if at all. I agree he did say he would be seeing less of them as he was going to school and lets face it if you go along with that idea then his voice probably broke years ago and his kids probably watch the show. Also the real Christopher hated the fact that he was included in the stories allegedly!!

We don't have an american Darby over here our little girl is English with a delightful british accent and we are very happy with her. Her accent at times does however wander to different accents around England though if you listen carefully.

Sorry but what does the fact that she is white got to do with it!!! So was Christopher Robin.

reply

chrisopher robin will still be in it.
he's only in two episodes though, premering in september.
i'm actually friends with the guy who's doing the voice-over.

reply

What do you mean premiering in September? Do yo mean he is in the second series is that premiering in September or do you mean his episode is not due out until September?

Thanks

I think they added Darby to appeal to the little girls in the audience. I mean, before the only female character was Kanga. Now there are two. And all great shows have at least two female leads.

reply

Kessie was also a female character, but I guess a lot of people don't count her; and I suppose she couldn't really be considered a "lead."

This new show is a vast improvement over 2001's "The Book of Pooh." Those puppets looked ridiculous, the backgrounds were lousy as were the stories.

reply

I agree I couldn't watch book of pooh.

"I agree I couldn't watch book of pooh"

Totally. I mean, the puppets looked terrible, their movements were poorly coordinated, and if fans are upset about Christopher Robin's lack of involvement in "My Friends Tigger and Pooh", I'm sure they were more upset that he wasn't in "Book of Pooh" at all. We only heard his voice and saw his hands when he was opening and closing the book.

So anyway, Christopher has appeared now and then in My Friends Tigger and Pooh. There is a version of Gopher: the Beaver. I guess all they're missing is Owl. I'm sure if the series goes on a while, he may show up.

Seems sadder to teach kids they can't have multiple friends, but *shrugs* teach your kids what you want.
