Can't stand Genevieve!
Who does she think she is, she is always so NASTY! I think HGTV should remove her from the show. Makes me not want to watch. Anybody else in agreement?

Personally I like her. Her designs are horrid though; I never liked anything she did. My favorite is Candace. She has never designed anything I didn't like. She's great. Also like David's designs, and Sabrina's also.

I also remember that Genevieve never used to wear shoes. I remember reading that one of the homeowners actually ended up paying thousands of dollars to undo what one of the designers on the show did. I think they glued something to their walls so when it was removed it ruined their walls so that had to have the whole room re-drywalled. And then there was the one who insisted on the sofa being painted and the couple didn't want to do it. Well, they painted the sofa and then "accidentally" left it out overnight in the rain and the designer ended up buying them a new sofa.
I loved that show but it was never the same after the hostess left. I can't remember her name. So many stories to tell from that show.

HILDI! She LOVED cutting sofas in half or painting them - I HATED when she was on an episode. SHE put feathers on a couple's wall one time. She said if people weren't open to change why bother signing up for the show.
Paige was the host.
Back when Designing Spaces was on I actually considered Genevieve to be less talented than the other designers (even Hildi despite shooting paintballs on a wall). I've only watched her Dear Genevieve show once and she did a decent job. I think she's nicer (Vern, too) this season than in a few past seasons. And they smile, more this season...
Moss? That's just crazy! Was the kid supposed to water the moss so it didn't die? Insane!

Genevieve has such a condescending tone with the contestants. She talks to them as if she's such a consummate expert when really she is mediocre at best. Really I miss the days when HGTV had design shows and not just House Hunters on almost 24/7. At least on Design Star see get to see some design. It seems as if they are so light on actual decorating shows. They even used to have good gardening shows on, now everything is "Crashed". Ahmed is really easy on the eye, but those kinds of shows just show extreme landscaping, but not really how to plant and care for a yard. I miss Paul James the Gardner Guy.

Totally agree with you! I miss those design/decorating shows, and especially miss Paul James gardening show. I also loved to watch Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson, but HGTV moved in a different direction.
As for the "crashed" shows, they're okay, and I defintely agree about Ahmed, but I wish they would show more things that I could actually do and afford in my own home, rather than such extremes.

Add two more votes to this discussion. We used to love Paul James, who actually taught viewers all sorts of things with humor and style. What a class act! Love It or List It entertains us, but how many times can one watch that and House Hunters in one week? Property Brothers have grown on us. We enjoyed Sandra's version of Property Virgins, but can't stand obnoxious Egypt. Where are all the more individual design shows, or even the ones about who found the most bang for their buck in various cities? We can't stand Genevieve or Sabrina Soto, both of whom seem mediocre, at best. Genevieve always dresses like some cheap tart, so why should I respect her design opinion? The Design Star winners' shows scarcely appear anymore. We never watched Antonio Treatment, as we didn't like all the tats or his designs. Meg was all right, as was Emily. We miss Candice; Vern's individual shows don't seem to air anymore, either.
Put puppy mills out of business: never buy dogs from pet shops!
I don't like Genevieve, either. She's smug, cold and always looks down her nose like she's smelling something nasty. The rooms she's designed aren't that appealing, either.

I seriously don't know what happened to her! Her moss room was probably her worst on TS. However, I liked most of her designs and I LOVED her personality! I know crazy huh?! She used to be so funny, and really bubbly. But now I almost have to skip her comments on DS because she comes off so smug. Its almost like she has been sedated on HGTV. If anyone can find an old TS episode, watch it and see how different Genevieve is on there.
