'We will not be producing your show'

As far as I can tell, HGTV will not be producing any show for any winner of HGTV Design Star. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I would love to see the shows of past winners. Except for a token episode or two, most of the winners have rarely been seen again. If this is going to continue to be the case, they need to stop saying that the winner will be getting their own show on HGTV, and start saying something like "You will become part of the HGTV family".

They seem to give them each a trial run of a few episodes, and then POOF! They vanish from existence! I don't think the shows last very long because they choose the winners poorly. They take a guess at who the viewers want to see and then the new shows fail abysmally, either because the host couldn't pull it off or because the show concept was bad.

There was one show where the room was done over twice. Once was "good" and once was "better". I didn't see the point of that! I think the designer was Emily and the show was Secrets From a Stylist. For me, the concept of the show fell flat. (Although in looking it up on IMDB, I see it ran for 26 episodes; were they running them late at night??? Because I don't remember seeing them...)

Some of the winners I never cared for personally, and I'm always surprised when they win. Personality is key to hosting, after all!

Maybe they are purposely picking the winners to fail; after all, their line-up would be full of Design Star winners if all the winners had stayed on tv! Who knows what they're thinking...

The same story goes for Food Network Star as well. Outside of Guy Fieri and David Bromstad (and I guess Melissa D'Arabian), who has ever made a career off of either of these two shows? I haven't seen either of last year's winners (Danielle and Justin) on their respective networks since their pilot episodes aired last August.

I don't actually care that much about the show they give the winner; I just hope they don't stop doing Design Star (well, HGTV Star as they now call it), because I really enjoy it!
