Aaarrgh can't believe it was a 'Daniel/Betty' ending. Weird.

Daniel only discovers he loves Betty when she has turned into a babe. Better if they had a tearful parting and seriously good friends.

I rooted for Daniel and Betty from Day 1, but the writers were obviously pushing for them to be platonic and not romantic. I was okay with that, especially after Gio came along, but then he left and Horta and co. decided to get on their knees for Detty fans and give us this weird will-they-won't-they thing. I have seen fanfiction writers sail that ship better...

well, i mean, to play the devil's advocate here. it wasn't like daniel was going to fall in love with her when they first met because -- obviously -- they didn't know each other. so freaking out because god forbid, betty's style changed over the years they knew each other is kind of ridiculous. she's still not the best looking woman for daniel to have ever met, she still retains a lot of her own personality in the clothing she wears, and her personality certainly didn't change. so her hair was less frizzy by the end of the show.

i feel that it's kind of ridiculous to ignore everything else that happened between daniel and betty throughout the show and just flat out claim the ONLY reason he could have fallen for her was because she cleaned up her look. i mean, we all (i'm guessing) watched the show for four years and fell in love with betty's character, and a lot of people were fans of daniel and betty's dynamic (even if it was more platonic towards the beginning), so is it really that impossible to believe that he fell for her?

betty was there for daniel through a lot -- he opened up to her about alex when he was still mourning him, and she was there for him when alex came back as alexis. she stood by his side when he made mistakes and was there after he found out he wasn't a father and she helped him through his grief over molly. at the same time, daniel was there for betty too -- he stood up for her when so many people didn't, he guided her and advised her in the magazine/fashion industry, he wanted the best for her and tried to protect her feelings from getting hurt by henry/gio/matt, and he was always there for her during everything with her family.

sometimes friendships evolve into love. to claim that just because they were friends means they absolutely couldn't become something more is ignoring so much about relationships. it's not just sex and chemistry and romance -- friendship is an integral part to any healthy relationship.

It was never really a Detty ending.Just b/c Daniel had "fallen" for Betty it does not mean she has any feelings for him.I never got the impression that Betty was ever interested in Daniel.If she was then she wouldn't have moved to London & start a new chapter in her life.
I personally find Daniel to be too needy at times.It seems a common theme throughout the series that she is always cleaning up his mess.So of course when Betty moved he felt like he lost a friend that he relied on for so many years.I think Daniel loves Betty in a friend type of way and not romantically.

I agree...Henry should have been her man. But hey, I think they did very well with that they had. Especially given the writer's strike.

I think if the show was given an additional 4 episodes to finish up the season,there would have been a better chance to make the "attraction" between Daniel and Betty happen. I'm really sad that the last few episodes felt so rushed. Amanda all of a sudden finds her dad, Willy gets the company, Daniel all of a sudden has feelings for Betty, Justin comes out. I wish the feelings would have been a little more obvious a few episodes before. Oh well.

I hope they make a movie. There is still rumors.

Well if this was an ORIGINAL story I'd agree with you. But Ugly Betty is actually a soap opera from Colombia. It has been re-made several times and Betty always end's up with Daniel. I would find it weird if they didn't! I was just really upset how it happened here...It was too fast and a lot of things got lost but only because they cancelled the show... That's why I really hate networks. They always ruin it for the fans!!

i hated how they ended it...if they had spent the whole season with daniel growing to have feelings for her i would understand then but its like "oh your braces came off...damn you are hot...ok i love you and i will move to london for you"
