Just Watched This Series For The First Time

It was amazing. How this show got canceled is beyond what I understand. It is much better than much of the shows on TV today.

But I guess ultimately people don't enjoy watching shows where their government is corrupt and is killing the people. I suppose it reminds them that it is always a possibility in the real world and they fear such an idea.

Netflix was in talks with CBS about bringing it back. Hopefully that happens.

The government wasn't behind this iirc. I'm just rewatching it again after a few years.

I think it was before it's time.

You didn't always take me where I wanted to go.
No, but I always took you where you needed to go.

reply

I just finished watching it...yes they were. It goes as high as the President of Cheyenne himself.

Yeah, I'm rewatching it now. As I remembered it, they were terrorists that were really some government contractors. That caused me to not like it so much. I don't care for conspiracy theories and I certainly don't believe that any company, contractor or not can get away with an nth of the amount of BS that movies and television portray them as doing.

You would be vastly surprised of what a company can do in the wrong hands. Companies have a lot of pull because they have a lot of money. Greed is what drives any government. Some might even argue that America is already run by several corporations. Some of the main ones being pharmaceuticals, media and oil.
All it takes is a powerful company with leaders that have a lust for power and a lack of empathy to infiltrate the government and take it over from within. It could happen, but the odds of something so complicated and precise occurring is not likely. It is only plausible. Supposedly, Jennings & Rall was based off of Halliburton, a huge company that has its own private military force and was infamous during Bush Jr's term due to ties with VP Dick Cheney who was a former CEO of the company.

Just because something is a conspiracy doesn't mean it involves little green men, plots to destroy the world, ect...
A conspiracy is any moment where a group of individuals gather to conduct illegal activity in secret. It happens everyday all the time. Some conspiracies are larger than others, but most are NEVER exposed. Sometimes somebody blows the whistle, and whoever is responsible still do their best to cover it up.

I find it silly that you would watch a TV show and be turned off because it doesn't portray real life scenarios. TV is supposed to be a creative exaggeration of reality.

Uh, what TV are you watching now? Because I remember members in the US government are the reason for the attacks.

You replied to wrong person.

Very thrilling, just like Jericho.

reply

Yes, Jericho is amazing. I really hope Netflix picks it up for a third season. I would be completely happy with 7 more episodes.

Apparently this is based on a graphic novel. I think this is one of those where the writing of the graphic novel trumps the actual producing of the TV show.

This happens a lot with Stephen King novels. There is a great book that comes out and then the TV studios like USA give it the D-list treatment.

Jericho has a great concept, I just don't think this studio/channel delivered. The writing is cheesy, the subplots are pointless. There is that BAD piano/elevator music the background for tender moments. Some of it is pretty laughable. But beneath the surface is an engaging story.

I too just finished my first watch through. What a sensational show. How on earth did it ever get cancelled?!

I sincerely hope that Netflix resurrects it. I don't subscribe to Netflix, but I will open an account specifically for Jericho if they bring it back.

reply

It's most significant flaw was not being on cable.

It died the same death most original, compelling and introspective shows die on network tv.

I am under the same impression. I'm on episode 7 right now.
