When I started watching this show I thought...

...I thought that a lot of the actors looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on exactly where I had seen them before. The most recognizable was Johnston Green, who's been around since at least the 80s. But the others - Eric Green, Heather, Hawkins, Emily, maybe Stanley, Gray, Mrs. Green - I felt like I'd seen them before, but couldn't remember where. Anyone else have this experience?

Yes I'm finding the same! I recognise Jonah as Dexter's father (gosh what a different role... but I keep seeing Dexter's father which makes it all the harder to watch him). Everyone else just looks so familiar but I don't know where from.

I am guessing that actors in Hollywood just bounce around a lot, and there are only so many shows employing supporting characters. Since I finished Jericho, I've watched episodes from two series I had not seen before: Caprica and Justified. The character who plays Beck is also in Caprica, and the character who plays one of the residents of New Bern is in Justified.

Sacrilege! It's not 'Dexter's father', it's James Remar aka Ajax from The Warriors!

Never tell me the odds.

Most of the main characters have been in a lot of stuff. Skeet Ulrich, (Jake Green), is instantly recognizable as one of the leads from the movie Scream. Lennie James, the actor that played Hawkins, is now playing Morgan in The Walking Dead, just to add a couple more examples to those already listed.

I recognized Jonah as Dexter's father as well, and Hawkins as the guy from The Walking Dead, as have both been mentioned. Personally, I also knew Gray from Unforgettable, but I don't know how well known that show actually is. He's also been in some other things a bit, such as 24 and Numb3rs.

Mitchell Cafferty, Gray, and the bad guy from Ravenwood all showed up in Season 8 of 24, and Heather shows up in Season 7. The funny thing is all of them except the actor who plays Heather play the exact same basic role.

- The actor who played Mitchell plays a shady guy from one of the main character's pasts who comes back to cause trouble

- The actor who played Gray plays a military official who tries to go behind the back of the president to carry out his own agenda

- The actor who played the Ravenwood baddie plays a shady government contractor who specializes in "interrogation"

*Spoilers*

- The shady guy who kills the store owner in Jericho plays a bad male nurse at the prison in Justified.

- The friendly guy from New Bern plays one of the Crowder family members in an ongoing part in Justified

Incidentally, the store owner who gets killed from Jericho plays Dwight's mom/step mom in The Office, I think.

Ah, the store owner also played "Mother Truth" for one episode in Justified. I saw that one when I browsed her imdb profile. After I browsed her profile I confirmed that she was indeed the school teacher who gets beaten to death with a ruler in Child's Play 2.

Best known (IMHO) as Beth Farmer, Donnie Darko, or the woman that gets blown up in the bus in Speed.

When I saw a Criminal Minds episode a few years ago, I recognized the lady who plays Gracie, but I couldn't place her. I watched Jericho when it aired (only a year after CM first aired), and I started watching again a few nights ago. When I saw Gracie again it hit me that I knew her from CM. So I guess that's kind of a backward answer to your question, lol.

Oh, also the chick who plays Mullen from the fake Marines is Dana from the L-Word.

The guy from Justified and New Bern was also on a few episodes of Revolution. Another post apocalyptic show on NBC

The guy who played Jonah looked familiar to me as well. I thought at first that he was Lance Hendriksen but I looked at the credits and it turned out to be James Remar, who played the girl's dad in Unborn and who also played Omar Bradley in Ike.

He has been around.

When I first started watching it maybe 2 yrs ago, I kept thinking, "this is pretty wild! I didn't expect this kind of plot... this is awesome! Wait!! Is that the a--hole boy from "The Craft?" No way!! He's a jerk - nuke him!

I just watched the whole series for the first time and I was amused to see The Wire's Marlon Stansfield playing one of Major Beck's grunts sent to break up Bonnie's funeral in the final episode.
