Like The Walking Dead without zombies

...and without the group moving around...

I'm only on season one episode 12 but I somehow find them strikingly similar. Was The Walking Dead somehow inspired by this show?

The Walking Dead is based on a comic book which started in 2003.

These people look too clean to be like the walking dead.

Problem with the Walking Dead is that it's basically them wandering in a circle. Society makes no progress, it's just people dealing with a post-apocalyptic wasteland again, and again, and again. The one episode which was my favorite, where we actually saw what people were doing to try to improve the world's situation and there was some hope for a cure, that never even happened in the comic!

The good thing about Jericho is that things actually advance. There's a bloody plot and we eventually not only learn the answers to the questions asked at the start of the show, but eventually we even see what happens what society does get back on its feet, which is an even more intriguing and even less-seen storyline for an apocalyptic program.

No just no, the Walking Dead has become completely boring and one dimensional at this point. I'm surprised the show has been cancelled already.

What suny said; I bailed on TWD over a year ago, maye two. I just started Jericho, and so far it's not bad. At least it's not a fricking histrionic screamfest soap opera. TWD should have been named People Screaming At Each Other Over Stupid *beep* And Sometimes Zombies.

Well said.

Twd rarely has a good episode.

Just dumb people doing dumb things, over and over again.
But it makes a massive pile of money...

Jericho is a bit of a slow burn, decently acted, OK characters and plot.
Some obvious actions and questions were lacking though.

Thats a shame, This series is quite good if you give it a chance.

I would say it's like Walking Dead if it cared about discussing idea, growing characters, and an actual macro-level story. Walking Dead's pilot episode is OUTSTANDING! If the rest of the show kept up that level of polish, quality, characterization, and writing, I seriously believe it would have overtaken Jericho if it continued for as long as it has. However, after that, it went downhill FAST, and really hasn't managed to be a better series. Walking Dead doesn't have an overall plot, as the promise of answers is only teased then yanked away from the audience every chance they get, and if they're holding true to Robert Kirkman's view of the story, the audience is never going to get an answer for why there are zombies. Gore effects and stellar sound design and cinematography can't replace an interesting narrative with good character development, and it's for that reason I stopped watching Walking Dead years ago.

Was The Walking Dead somehow inspired by this show?
Well, I don't know. Walking Dead takes tropes and archetypes from post-apocalyptic stories (that's not an inherent bad thing since good writing is what's important).
