The Grand High Witch is a joke and Hathaway delivers a Razzie worthy performance. Really terrible.

Thought she was pretty good herself but this version was definitely not as good as the original. Seemed like a money grab. Some of the new story elements seemed like they fit, were done organically. Ultimately the cg took me out of it.

LIKE EVERY FILM?...EVEN A FILM MADE FOR CHARITY WOULD BE LOOKING TO GRAB AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE.

That's true. It was underneath Zemekis' abilities and he didn't even do something drastically different to make it his own. Just more terrible cg for kids. He probably did this money grab as part of a deal to direct something he's actually passionate about.

It was dreadful, Dahl is rolling over in his grave. I don’t even know why they called it The Witches. The characters being African American didn’t make any sense either and it was clearly a Disney PC move.

Can't tell if this is a troll thread. The movie itself is just okay--I'd give it a 6.5/10--but Hathaway's performance is easily the best thing about the film. She's fun and clearly committed to the character and elevates what is otherwise a fairly bland script and plot that almost feels incomplete.

I also appreciated that we were given what feels like a traditional family film in an era where we really don't get many movies like this anymore.
