stupid ending

i can't help but feel extremely let down by the ending of this film. it was so random and pointless. the rest of the film was good and i had invested a good hour and 30 into this film to see what the ending was going to be like. the fact that it was all monsters was pathetic. it was like the writers couldn't think of anything better so lets just put something completely unbelievable into quite a believable story up until that point. from then i didnt even care that the fiance died and he had his tongue ripped out due to the fact that there were monsters. the film completely lost me at this point. also it is ridiculous that leon decides to join them and become the next serial killer. why would you do that? why not run to the police show them you dont have a tongue and tell them what the fk happened. i highly rate this film in terms of quality and gore though. very scary parts

Totally agree. I almost switched it off when the monsters appeared. Completely ruined what was, until that point, a pretty decent film.

That was my instinctive reaction.

Then I thought maybe there was a theme of vegan propaganda-ness about proceedings. Another species slaughtering humans to eat. 

If you notice throughout the film Leon's personality slowly begins to change. He becomes more aggressive, starts to have dreams of himself being a killer, starts to eat meat, treats his girlfriend rather rough. My take on it is he was already one of the "chosen ones" and he was changing as he got closer to Mahogany and the truth. You also have to remember the police were in on this whole thing as well as most of the important people in power. remember the policewoman had a necklace that matched Mahogany's ring. Finally you have to take into account that his girlfriend was murdered and he had nowhere else to go and nothing else to live for now that he knows the truth.

The "writer" was Clive Barker, based on his short story. what did you expect, a straight forward serial killer story? I take it you don't like films like "Hellraiser?"

the entire movie was a letdown. had my boyfriend & i had not been talking about it while watching it, i would have turned it off, but he wanted to finish it. i understand Clive Barker is supposed to be brilliant or whatever, but this movie was just plain not good.

The Ending in the Movie was similar to the Short Story by Clive Barker.
Why so many dislike this movie ? Its one of my favourites Movies and the Best Horror Movie since 2008.

reply

it was like the writers couldn't think of anything better so lets just put something completely unbelievable into quite a believable story

A "believable story" about a train hardly anyone knows about that travels around a MASSIVELY populated city. That also just so happens to house a "killer" and store humans as "meat".

There is nothing "believable" about this story...so why the inclusion of "monsters" is suddenly the point where you think *no, not buying this* I have no idea.

It's a film based on a Clive Barker story. If it didn't have "monsters" in it. May Clive fans (like myself) would be annoyed.

also it is ridiculous that leon decides to join them and become the next serial killer.

It's becoming clear you looked at the film, but did not watch it.
He does not "decide" to join them, as the film shows, he slowly becomes one of them.

Just as you didn't "grasp" the ending, does not mean it was "stupid".

This guy said it all.
OP is likely too dumb to understand the movie, therefore he calls the ending "stupid, pointless and ridiculous".

I quite liked the ending.

I don't know what you expected though. Did you expect them to be feeding humans instead of monsters?

reply

I wasnt expecting either, think i was thinking along sweeney todd lines? i think it was the length of fighting that lost my interest.. i suppose the point about unbelievable is monsters are just generally more unbelieveable than a midnight meat train, which i would say is improbable. I felt as well as leon turning throughout was the suggestion that who else is going to take over? Someone must feed them or they will ravenously take over the streets! Kind of like a sacriifice of a few to save many.. and eventually you become cold like mahogany..

I'm with ya.
I got so frustrated over the ending I threw this DVD out the window.
Not even joking, I didn't want that *beep* in my house.
I felt better Frisbee'ing it than watching it.

You are stupid, as your post proves. Did you even pay attention to the story? Because, like two users already explained, it really looks like you barely followed the movie.

also it is ridiculous that leon decides to join them and become the next serial killer. why would you do that?
You clearly didn't understand anything about the film's ending. The only ridiculous thing is your reasoning. "I didn't like/get it, so it's bad!". What are you, 8 years old? A troll? Mentally slow? All of the above?

I liked the monsters and it followed the ending of the short story like it was supposed to LOL! The monster thing was the whole fucking point!! Read the short story if you want a better understanding of it. There is NOTHING remotely "believable" or "realistic" about this movie, it's an old school horror story like we used to see before PC film goers wanted everything "realistic" and served on a silver platter of pretension. Anybody who says this movie is unbelievable just doesn't get this movie or classic horror in general!
