Book V Movie

Can anyone share the differences between the book and movie?

Well, it's not really a book, just a very short story, so naturally the movie expanded it a bit.

In the story, the protagonist is just an office worker, not a photographer, and he has no friends or girlfriend (that we see, anyway).

The whole plot with Mahogany/the lizards/etc. is mostly the same, but since it's a short story, it only covers a small amount of time.

Basically, the protag just wakes up after having fallen asleep by accident on the train (like the bald guy in the movie) to see Mahogany chopping up some bodies. Mahogany notices the protagonist and attacks, but the protag manages to kill him first. Protag asks the train conductor for help, but he acts strangely.

The train stops at the abandoned station like in the movie, at which point the creatures come in to eat and the conductor explains the situation. Same ending thing with the tongue ripping happens, protag becomes the new butcher, etc. The most notable difference is that in the story, one of the creatures is supposed to me massive, like possibly Godzilla-level huge, which explains something a lot of people who have only seen the movie usually complain about: why not just kill the creatures? Well, that's a bit easier said than done when one of them is as big as a skyscraper.

Another difference is that the story takes place in New York, while the film seems to happen in Los Angeles.

That's it really. It's a very short-and-sweet story. I highly recommend reading Barker's Books of Blood. His stories are insane.

Agreed.... The story after this one (The Yattering) is awesome too.
