All of the jumping characters had stunt doubles for everything, yes they can jump in real life but not as good as the trained people that Disney hired to work with them, some scenes you can tell that it's not Corbin because they show him from the bottom down and his double is a little darker skin, any far off shot or non-close up you can bet they used a double for, but most movies use doubles no big deal

my first clue that Corbin had a stunt double was that insane flip during the freestyle scene where he does that awesome backflip and jumps rope upside-down in mid air. The stunts Corbin did do himself were AWESOME though

What is a stunt double?

reply

A stunt double is someone who looks like the star they are stunt-doubling for and does all of that person's stunts if the star either is physically unable to actually do the stunt, or it's really dangerous. Stunt doubles are specially trained to fall, fight, flip, drive, etc. without getting hurt. The audience isnt supposed to be able to tell the difference between the actor and the stunt double.

Corbin really did do many of the double-dutch tricks - he is apparently quite a natural athlete. So most DD scenes are Corbin. However, much of the Single Rope tricks were performed by Marcus Taylor from the Cincinnatti Ropin' Rockets jump rope team - one of the elite national competitors in the sport. And he also had a stunt double for the street gymnastics scenes...

PS Here is a link to him jumping for fun in the practice area of the International Rope Skipping competition (which was in Toronto during the filming of the movie): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho6HhF9rInE
My daughter got to meet him there and he is a very nice kid. And if you want to see some really cool DD - look at the Japan team from the Worlds competition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YplBcmotzk

Aww, that was cute. The girls were great and Corbin's so talented, I have to bump this. I remember interviews with Corbin a few years ago and that he had done most of his stunts but I never saw that.
