no postings on this film in 5 months?!

The Big Chill is my favorite movie, and for a variety of reasons i hate God with every fiber of my being. so i took a chance on whether i would like this movie and i give it thumbs up. it was well done and held my interest.

isn't the title redundant though? aren't secrets hidden by their very nature?

I'm just starting to watch this movie and stopped to check out some of the songs in it. I came here for that reason but I am posting for another. Your statement "for a variety of reasons i hate God with every fiber of my being." caught my attention. This is very unusual. The easiest solution for most people who have been abused, betrayed or neglected (or seriously hurt in some other way) is to simply reject all belief in God. Hating God requires negative energy which, in turn, produces guilt. By not believing in God they can 'lash out' at Him without the attendant guilt of 'hate'. Perhaps bald tony is able to be truthful where other are not.

Yet, I wonder...what in your life could be so bad that you blame God for it? Is it really God that you hate so much or could it be those who CLAIM to serve Him? I may never know...unless, of course, you get email notification of my post and it drives you back to comment.

As far as your question goes, yes, the title is redundant.

in the most basic of terms i have been screwed over my whole life. not some bad mixed in with some good for a normal up and down life, just bad, and i did all the right things. that is not to say i am perfect, people make mistakes, myself included, but i tried very hard for very long to be successful in life, and since i got nothing out if it, the only conclusion i can draw is god went out of his way to screw me over. no way i did all i did and got nothing out of life w/o god going out of his way to screw me over, that is where the justified hatred comes from. all that being said, i understand i am not the only one. god plays favorites, he does not treat all equally, and not everyone gets out of life what they put in, some get more, some get less, some get nothing. i do not have a dr.

That's cool that in spite of your feelings, you still chose to watch this kind of movie. It even addressed that issue to some degree with the character Jeremy. I'm sorry you feel the way you do. When I find I'm not getting things in life I see others getting, I'm just reminded of what Christ suffered and went through. He didn't have a home, just the clothes on His back, expereinced abandonment by all his friends, utter betrayal by one of them, and through the will of His Father, suffered the most humiliating and agonizing death imaginable in order to save a rebellious people. Paul in the new testament suffered many things and ended up in prison. Through tradition, we understand that most of the disciples were martyrd. And Jesus told us to store up our treasures in Heaven, not in this world. What we have here on earth is temporary and we can't take it with us, but what we do here in these few years we have determines our eternity and our status there.

if a movie is good i want to see it. even though i have my problems with god i am not closed off to good quotes, songs, etc... involving god. i actually have several christian friends. we dont see eye to eye about god, but that doesnt stop us from being friends, swapping ideas, etc... we talk about many things - like NCIS
