Anne is so stupid (SPOILER)

Anne had so many opprotunies to kill Chris, she could have ran him over with the Jeep in the begining, or taken the guy's shotgun and shot him.

What Does Marsellus Wallace look like?

"Ugh, her character is amazingly stupid" Says the guy who likes THE HITCHER remake.

Hahaha...I'm kidding. My theory is that everything Anne does in the movie is because she WANTS to be caught. She likes being chased by this madman. Which is why the last scene in the movie looks more like a sex scene than a traditional kill scene.

My two cents.

Hah!

You are correct she has very bad luck!

I thought the tree falling on her was awesome though. Just when you think she's found help, WHAM!

I think I have to agree with pierre, that final scene had a very sexual look to it. During the entire beginning sequence , you can see how emotionally damaged Anne is, she has a sort of blank look, can't even talk to her boyfriend, and is very noticeably on end. It was bad enough she cheated on her boyfriend, but by calling Chris back, she inadvertently began the sequence of events that led to the guy dying, so there was probably some element of guilt clouding her judgment. She may have been trying to escape, but seemed very self destructive as well; emotionally distraught or not, most people have the sense to get out of the way of a falling tree.

There's a good chance I'm just wrong, but it seemed to me that her actions (which often contradicted themselves) were reflecting how she was going back and forth in her mind about whether or not to give up. Chris even says that the reason he liked Anne was because of her will to survive (there's a quick foreshadowing of this when he asks about the big scar on her arm and she explains the story of how it happened very nonchalantly and says 'no big deal' after which he cracks a smile). Not exactly Hamlet, but I think indecisiveness was definitely one of the main themes, and her (eventual) intelligent decision in the end to take not chances making sure Chris is dead means that she has reached a decision, and I think the sexual look of that throat stabbing was just supposed to imply that she was enjoying it.

The look of the movie itself was pretty cool to, lots of contrast (like the story) and a lot of handheld cam shots and fast paced chases through the forest.

Valhalla is not for the sheep.

Those are very good points Cainite.

You express a point of view similar to my own experience watching the film, but it is a real treat to read analysis explained more in-depth than say, "This movie was so dum my dog culd have directed it".

Bravo!
