Gee, never would have guessed who survives

[Spolers ahead, of course]

First of all, movie was worse than the first one, way predictable, and increased gore notch of course a bit (which some freaks might find as a positive thing). To the point. Who would you guess who survives? White man with a big mouth? Mexican lesbian, macho-mcGyver man? No, no no no, and no. Black men are virtually untouchable in 21th century movies. They have this anti-racist force field around them so they cannot be killed or even tortured. Check, correct answer. And of course a token blonde (for the black man) with manly/boyish attitude so that the feminists won't go crazy. Check, another correct answer.

Wasn't that hard to guess, was it? Deep Blue sea, House on Haunted Hill, and many others. Same predictable pattern. If they wanted a twist in this movie, they should have the rambo-guy be the sole survivor and kick all those muties arses. That would have been and a proper, yet surprising ending.

Awesome list RepoMan, of course I've seen some of those movies, but others are a little too "new generation" for me. But I like the point you made and you made it well.

And whoever else said if this was a stereotypical movie Mara would have survived is dead on right too. Mara and Murphy would've been natural picks for this kind of movie for survivors, but the writers turned the tables and I applaud them for it.

Is the OP trolling? Jake and especially Nina actually surviving was a great, unpredictable way to end the movie.

I agree. They were at the top of my list of characters to die while I pegged Mara and M to our protagonists. It was nice to see a mix-up of the usual formula.

Well the virgin always lives, it just so happens that the black guy was the virgin in this movie. And as for suicide barbie, well she was always going to be untouchable. You can't kill a character on a journey of redemption, there would be no pay-off at the end without her.

Having said that I was quite surprised and irked when Mara was killed off so early, I would have expexted her or her and Nina to be the last standing.
