It came as a big surprise to me, especially since she was by far the most likable character in the film.

Yeah I thought she'd make it alot further in the film than she did.
shareThey just didn't treat that character properly. It seemed as if they were going to use her as the main girl but the writer obviously moved on to another and killed her off quickly.
I found the main surviving girl better anyway. She seemed to have had been better written. But by the look of her in the beginning of the movie you would have expected her to be one of the first to be killed.

I think that was the point - they set her up to be the main girl so that it would be all the more shocking when she got offed.
It certainly worked on me, for I was very surprised!
When they set it up with all the comments about her being stronger than she thinks etc I groaned and though here we go lame set up for the surviving girl.. then they totally went HAHA when they killed her, it was awesome!

More movies need to do things this way to keep us viewers guessing, but it can't be overkilled or then we will always expect it.

I thought exactly the same thing! As soon as the "stronger than you think" line was uttered, I had her as the last one standing. Definitely.
Quite cool that they killed her off.
