This was actually good? After seeing the first one i would suspect that a DTV sequel would suck but from what ive heard its actually pretty good

Yep, it's good and worth your money. I'd dare to say it's almost as amazing as the original, but that depends on the viewer.

Anyway, don't let the fact it's DTV put you away, go see it. It is a bit dull and cheesy, but it's also incredibly fun, gory, well-acted and entertaining.

Don't be ridiculous. Good ? Maybe if you are deaf and blind. Don't wast your time and money.

I enjoyed it, and I'm not deaf or blind. It all depends on tastes, really.

Sorry, didn't meant to insult. You are right. I watched it tonight and it really annoyed me. Surprised people get away with making films like this. Even more surprised that people like it. I must be getting old...

reply

I agree with Puffinpaws. I wonder why people still make such movies nowadays. basically it is chainsaw massacre.I am very surprised this flick was done last year. I looks like it was made in the 1990's.
The morons being killed one after the other in the forest cliche is getting old.

Do as you want, it is YOUR time and money. Perhaps you'll enjoy this film if you are under 13 Years old, and never had access to any horror movie already. Otherwise just don't expect to find anything new or good in this one. It is badly written, full of goofs, and overacted. Overall, IN MY OPINION it is a very bad movie.

It is not the worse horror movie of the year, but it is easy to find better ones around.

reply

I think whether you think this is 'good' depends on your particular evening's needs. Want a gory, fun horror movie? Here ya go. Want brain candy? THEN WHY ARE YOU PICKING UP THIS DVD IF YOU DO?

I enjoyed it, but there were stretches where I thought it sucked. The "reality show" setup is VERY familiar, but Rollins sells it, and the show's premise is honestly ... REALLY DUMB. But it is supposed to be.

The template of young hot people running from killers in the woods is likewise familiar ... But if you rented it, you obviously know what to expect. The twist here is that one's expectations are almost sure to be exceeded with WRONG TURN 2.

To be fair, if Rollins had not been in it, I would not be saying this, but I had a great time watching this. He TOTALLY saves this movie. He is a total windbag at first and is set up to be a poser ... Turns out he isn't. AT ALL.

Plus, since its a slasher movie we are talking about ... A little T & A and a LOT of great inventive gore don't hurt matters.

The only time the movie falters is early on when Rollins carries on about the rules of the reality show a little too long, and later when a girl is held captive at the cannibal family's dinner table, which was too similar to the same sequence at the end of the original TCSM.

But like I said.

ROLLINS.

I'm over 13 years old and have access to plenty of different horrors, yet I still enjoyed this. It all comes down to matter of opinion, really.

'Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.'

reply

As said, it is only my opinion. As you say, all is a matter of opinion.

Saying "if you are over 13" don't mean the movie is infantile but youngsters have probably not seen that much of the older similar movies. As I am quite old and a long time fan of horror movies I found nothing in this movie I did not saw many times before. Texas Chainsaw massacre is not a better movie but it was something new for its time. This one looks like a remake, and still retains the same flaws, too bad. If someone is not used to watch lots of horror movies the similarities and the flaws can be less obvious.
There are so much horror movies each year it would be a full time job for someone under, say 18 to watch everyone made since the 90's( and a boring job as many are really really bad). The whole genre is not very innovative. More gore seems the limit of the director's creativity

I don't know the actors, then I can't be fan of any. Again one used to their play can like it because it is the actor's way, but when you see it as an unknown generic actor it is a very different perception. I really did not like it.

To whoever said this was far superior to the first: I have to say, I completely disagree. The first at least was gritty and suspenseful. This one had all the cliches under the sun, from cheesy dialogue to beautiful people being stalked in a forest.

It was overly gory too, I think that was thrown in to compensate for a lack of everything else.

The whole reality show thing annoys me too. The premise was done years ago in My Little Eye and Series 7. Let it go, come up with something original.

I actually give the first Wrong Turn an 8,. But this one seemed to contrived and pathetic for me. Poor script and acting, except for Henry Rollins, and an unbelievable plot made this one a disapointment in my eyes, similar to the letdown I suffered in The Hills Have Eyes 2. It seemed they were just trying to capitalize on the good name of the first one. Gave it 3/10 for Henry Rollins but other than that pass on this hillbilly nightmare.

the original sucks, this one is pretty decent, probably one of the best horror films of year 2007 (unfortunately, it says more about y2k7 in horror films than about this movie)

Far superior to the first. The first did have better acting all around, and higher production value, but this one was so much more inventive, gorey, and cleverly shot than the first. When you factor in the fact that the budget on part 2 was so much less than the first, it makes the film even more impressive and the first pale all the more in comparison.

negative:
Bad acting, bad writing, low production value, killers looked more silly than scary, definetely has the dtv feel.

Positive:
Some great, fun, funny deaths--- Also, it was difficult to tell who the survivors would be...something rare in a horror film.

I gave it 4/10.

reply

WTF dude 4/10 are you retarded this deserves nothing less than 5.5, it was great fun for a horror flick.

reply

I liked it much more than the first Wrong Turn. The whole film is just one big ride. I loved it. Great gore effects, awesome death scenes, good camera work, good acting, and Rollins is awesome.

reply

I love this movie. The first one tried real hard to be a serious horror film while this one, is just pure fun. Don't take it seriously and you'll enjoy the hell out of it. I personally prefer it to the first.

reply

I agree, I only wanted to watch this film for daniella, so i got it on sale.. but after watching it i thought it was awsome..as a filmmaker myself i have a tendency to find fault in most things i watch, but i found this so entertaining yes it had its flaws like most low budget films the camerwork was blurry the acting wasn't great, but i think the death scene's and the realisum of it were fantastic, the thought that there could actually be people like this in the world who to them are doing nothing wrong but to everyday society are monsters, I loved the first one for this fact but this one in my eyes is better..I am still waiting for a film like this to come out were no one gets away, definatly worth the seven pounds i paid for it..

reply

I liked this film waaay better than the first, and the first one had the stars in it. the film is complete filled with nobodies, expect the american idol chick and "FD3" dude Texas Battle. His character was a little odd...not very manly...lol. and to top it off, the chick keeps saving HIM at the end.

reply

this movie was good, i was suprised at how good the acting/gore/plot worked out...u have to admit that for a str8 to dvd this film was done correctly

I thought it was pretty decent actually. Especially for a direct to dvd movie. I'd say it's even better than the first in some ways. I like that there was more backstory in this one but then I was also kinda okay with the no explanation approach of the first one. Just sorta "they're cannibals and they wanna kill these people" was enough for me. Yes the whole premise of throw a bunch of kids in the woods and kill em off one by one is getting tired but I thought this was a fairly enjoyable movie. Also I loved the ending. I was trying to keep track of how many were left and after they killed what seemed like the last two and I was like "okay no chance of a sequel" well they leave it with the chance of another sequel. Good movie..just my opinion though

I thought both Wrong Turns were 10/10s. I hope they make more.

And re some of the other posts in this thread, I'm neither deaf nor blind, I'm middle-aged, and I've been watching horror movies constantly--I've literally seen thousands--for about 40 years. BUT, I also do not give bonus points for originality. If you've seen lots of horror, you've definitely seen very similar films, you've seen the 10-little-indians styled elimination hundreds of times, and parts of this are obvious homages, the most substantial homage being to Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I look at films like this as akin to going on a great dark-ride. You're probably not going to be that surprised on a dark-ride if you've been on a lot of them, but you're not really going on the ride to be surprised (or to learn anything, or to hear a logical argument, etc). You're going on it to have fun. You've been on dark-rides before and you know you love them. You want to experience that kind of thing again. (You can also look at that aspect as something like sex--if you're old enough that you're experienced, are you really going to be surprised by sex? Probably not. But that doesn't mean that you don't want to experience it again, does it?) This is a great film from that perspective; you can tell that the folks who made it love horror and wanted to create a film that horror fans like me would love--they succeeded.

I don't know about you guys but when I watch a movie like Wrong Turn or Hills Have Eyes, I will be looking for blood and gory. All the campy killing and maybe some tits and ass. That's all I am expecting from movies like these. I don't expect to get a movie where the lead actor might be getting some academy awards nomination. Or some great soul searching love triangle between the mutants and the lead actress.

"This was actually good?"

Do you want to see some people getting chopped up in the woods? then watch it. Otherwise I would say don't even bother.

This movies fun, gory, and fake, what it's suppose to be. It did it's job well. If you were expecting something else, you obviously went the Wrong Way in your expectations before hand, indeed.

reply

I have to post here because i'm actually really surprised that some people think this movie is so great - i thought it was your average low budget horror ie cliched and ridiculous. It was definately entertaining but in a silly way and that guy who was supposed to be 'funny' (there has to be a wisecracking one in EVERY cliched horror flick) was so annoying & unfunny I wanted to throw a shoe at the tv!

reply

I loved it :)
