Thumb scene **SPOILER**

Anybody else surprised by the brutality of this scene?

reply

Yep, me! Seemed a bit off, especially when considering that they had all the more gruesome parts in The Payback either cut out or shown in a very moderate way.

Mind you, it still is practically "kids' stuff" after what one gets to see nowadays in PG-13 rated movies like PotC, but it was still somewhat surprising when taking the style of the movies into account.

Might have been a concession to all those who found The Payback not enough violent.

Quite frankly,I thought it was replusive and I am not at all sure it was even necessary-just the threat of doing it should have been enough and Nick was not about to reveal Kate's location,no matter what they did.

Yeah, I was just thinking how out of place it was - Part 2 had good beat-em-up violence but nothing overly gory, but this was straight out of SAW. Plus the fact the dismemberment was done to a woman threw me for a loop.

I've got to say though, her revenge on the torturer was sweet, even though I'm not sure if you can stab someone that hard without a thumb.

Why is that exactly? You wouldn't be bothered so much if it was done to a man now would you? Stuff like this is done to men all the time (the Saw movies for example) and people think that it's funny, but if it's done to a woman, you got issues with it.

These double standards that you guys have are absolutely ridiculous.
