If it's not a sequel, why call it Walking Tall 2

Just wondering, I see people on here getting mad because everyone thinks it's a crappy sequel. Well I haven't seen it and unless it comes out on the movie channels I get, I probably won't. Only because I don't think it looks good as a sequel or otherwise. I hate movies that are made cheaply and throw a name out there that everyone knows. If it's not a sequel then call it "Guy from Hercules Kicking Ass" or something original even. And just for the record, Kevin Sorbo is not a great actor. I'm sure he's a great guy and he's an OK actor, but to class him as a great actor is just wrong. I do wish him all the best though, because he seems like a genuine, down to earth type of a dude. Now to crack a frosty beverage and relax. Take care now.

From what I understood "Walking Tall" started as the life story of someone who actually existed and in the long run became something of a trademark for a certain type of movies.

Already the first more recent one starring 'The Rock' had no connection with the original story, as don't the the following films.

As to Sorbo: I don't really care if he's a nice guy or not. It's not his job to be a nice guy, but to be a good actor. Incidentally he's very good at his job.

Have fun.

They most probably named it this way so it would sell better. I mean, if someone in a video rental store would see this DVD and he liked the first film, it is a bigger chance that he would rent/buy this one too. Capiche?

Buford Pusser was the real life inspiration for Walking Tall. He was a sheriff in Tennessee who fought moonshining and drug trafficking done by the Dixie Mafia and State Line Mob. His wife was killed in a hit by the mob in 1967 which brought national attention to his story and he was later killed under mysterious circumstances in a car crash but many believe that was foul play too. He was played onscreen in the 70's for the first time by Joe Don Baker, there were two sequels starring Bo Svenson and a TV series. The 2004 film starring The Rock has a change in the location, story, and character names but the basic premise is the same. Pusser was also famous for carrying around a home made bat which he wasn't afraid to use.

Being hit by someone in a moving car is no basis for a relationship.
