One good thing out of an overall disappointment
Well, actually two good things. Then opening credit sequence was done beautifully. It was creepy, aesthetically pleasing and really interesting. Mother of Tears also featured a pretty impressive death scene (the first one in the library), one that could make even the most seasoned horror fan flinch.
Unfortunately though, that is where anything redeeming stops. The acting by the good and evil female leads was lackluster at best. Probably the most disappointing thing for me was the depiction of witches. They appeared unintelligent, loud, obnoxious and tacky.
It's a film that could have been, SHOULD have been great, but some poor decisions made by the film makers caused it to miss the mark.
