Will it be rediscovered as a guilty pleasure?
Daria Nicolodi's Obi-Wan-cameo. The uneasy feeling that the scenes between Asia and her mother actually channel their real-life relationship. The godawful ending. The gratuitous gore. The Mother of Tears' plastic rack. Asia's out-of-the-blue shower scene - right after she saw her mother's spirit being dragged into the fiery depths of hell. The craptastic metal song over the credits ("She is sex and death and more" - WTF?). The credits' overabundance of occult imagery.
It's been a while since I first saw The Mother of Tears. I watched it again yesterday and since I could pretty much only remember the bad parts, I actually had a lot of fun rewatching it and seeing just how BAD they were.
After living down my initial disappointment, I could actually appreciate this one as trashy fun. Anyone else feel this way? Could La terza madre become the Showgirls of horror movies?
