Why didn't the poison work?

I must have missed something obvious.

He bought the poison, mixed it in with the medicine she took.

Yet she never got sick/died?

Then the dog dies and I'm wondering if the poison had something to do with that.

Didn't he mix the poison into her bottle of medicine which she ingested?

Why didn't it have an effect on her health?

Or did I miss something?

They flat out said that the dog was poisoned as a test run. Pat never took the poison. She hadnt taken her nightly dose of medicine yet bc she had her boyfriend over, and harry replaced the poisoned bottle with the safe med without the poison when she wasnt looking. You didnt pay attention to the movie at all, did you?
