Bob, the ending, thoughts? (spoilers if you haven't seen the film)

Okay, so I've just finished watching this film about two minutes ago. I don't know if its based on a book so I don't know if the end was supposed to give this impression, but was anyone else getting the vibe that Bob never did get accepted into the group home and that he left early to go kill himself? It was something in the characters last few scenes that gave me this impression... Any thoughts?

i would like to know as well. i did notice he was acting a bit odd. i thought he was gonna be dead by the next morning..

I also thought he was about to kill himself, but in the end the main character said he visited and helped Bob. It looked like he was back in the hospital, but I wasn't sure.

I thought this too... it seemed like they had originally filmed an ending where Bob killed himself but then edited it for a happier ending. I wouldn't be surprised if they killed Bob off and the audience in a test screening didn't like the climax, so the filmmakers altered it. Has anyone read the book?

I read the book, but Bob wasn't even as important a character in the book. The main friend of Craig in the book was Mumble (the bald guy).

I thought the same thing. either
1. bob killed himself
2. he only told craig he got accepted so craig could become a better/happy person, someone he wanted to become.

I did have the feeling about Bob's successful suicide but there is a actually a different setting. Through the movie he is this cheered up guy and always able to suppress problems with humor and stuff. His last scene when he is talking on the phone about meeting his daughter he is actually happy and for once he is sincere and real as we saw his feelings about his wife and his interview.

So for me at first sight we think he is taking his life but on second look he might be actually being committed to his daughter.

Exactly! I finished the film two minutes ago too and just checkin the web for any info about Bob. I thought the same that he just decided to kill himself. Ending of his story is so blurry.
