Northern Arizona University

The plotline reminds me of an urban legend at NAU about one of the dorm buildings. Supposedly it was once an aslyum and one of the bathrooms used to be the room of a girl who committed suicide or something like that

And its like one of the schools in the New England area. Where the buildings were really that of an asylum and then converted to a school several years later. It wasn't haunted by anyone who was treated there. But a student several years later did black magic and took her blood and made symbols on the wall with it. Then I believe it was she hung herself.... But the later tried to paint over the blood but it kept showing up. So no one wanted to sleep there but they eventually changed it into boiler room. They said another weird thing was that the school was not to far from graveyards and said they looked to make the shape of a pentagram... meh but ever school has a story...

That's funny cause NAU is surrounded by cemetaries too! Not pentagram shaped, but there's about 3 or 4 of them bordering the campus What school was that in New England?

It was in Athens, Ohio that all tha took place. Here is info about the Pentagram Cemeteries and Wilson Hall where the female student supposedly did Satanic rituals in her dorm room.

The Pentagram Cemeteries
I hesitate even to mention this one because it's so ridiculous, but it is far too common a story in Athens to leave out of any overview of local hauntings. The previously mentioned Wilson Hall even gets a certain part of its story from it. Here's the legend: five cemeteries (or is it ten?) form a pentagram around Athens, with Wilson Hall sitting dead center, at the heart of the vortex of supernatural energy a cemetery pentagram generates (obviously). The cemeteries mentioned as points on the pentagram are, variously: Simms, Haines, Hanning, Cuckler, Higgins, Zion, Hunter, Slaughter, Cutler, Mansfield, and Peach Ridge. Some of them are said to be points on the circle which connects the tips, making it a pentagram instead of just a star. But there are something like 270 graveyards in Athens County alone, which means you could connect the dots and draw a star or a pentagram anywhere, with its center anywhere. You could also write your name on the map using cemeteries, if you really wanted to, but it wouldn't mean the ghosts of the dead were sending you a message. It's hard to believe anyone buys anything about this one.

Athens, Ohio is supposedly full of haunted places. Another haunted place in Athens is The Ridges. It used to be an asylum for the insane. Athens was featured on an episode of Scariest Places on Earth, a TV show that was hosted by Linda Blair.

I go to University of New England and there is an abandoned mental asylum like right next door and there are a few cemetaries on campus that I know of (maybe more?)

I've never heard anyone talk about anything like this but who knows? maybe this is the one.

In So. Cali they recently converted the old state mental hospital into a university, University of Cali. Channel Islands....Its pretty creepy though because half of the university is still abandoned and hasn't been converted yet.

that's interesting that you said that about half of a school not being used. I spent a year at the University of Hull (in the UK). There was no mental hosipital nearby, but the school had just bought all the neighboring buildings bordering the campus.

In order get to them you had to cross a road, wind around all the construction, and everytime there was a different path to get to class. No ghosts, but in the evenings it was creepy as heck because you couldn't see what was around the next corner and if you needed to run, the fencing allowed only two ways to go (foreward or backward).

I used to think it would make a good setting for a horror film...then I'd scare myself and run the rest of the way home
