not impressive

asylum is a very generic and predictable film. it's not by any means original and the only thing it has going for it is the deaths. i've liked sarah roemer from the grudge 2 and disturbia, but her acting was a little dull and stiff in this. i just wish she would have shown a bit more emotion in her face. Same thing goes for the other main supporting male character. The other characters were likeable in a way. They got annoying and the director just throws their life problems out there. I'm all for character development, but it's very forced and you can tell.

The killer is ok. He's very obnoxious and to be truthful isn't scary at all. He tries to be somewhat like Freddy Kreuger, but it just doesn't work.

Overall, it's nothing we haven't seen. I would like to say taht i found it entertaining, but i mean i found myself bored throughout the film. it's ok to watch for the first time, but i wouldn't recomment buying it when it comes out. this is definitely something to rent.

I feel like the actors themselves all have potential, particularly Sarah R. But Ellis sort of dials it in and gives them nowhere to go.

yes, exactly! he doesn't know what to do with the characters. he doesn't know how to make them past 2D and actually have lives. like their backstories didn't make me care for them anymore or any less. i just didn't care for them.
