Okay, I go to Winthrop U and I knew that they filmed a movie here, before I came here. I didn't really care, but a group of friends decided to watch it tonight and omg, they got the campus completely wrong!
it's so funny, my friends and I watched the movie and pointed out all the places around campus. Oddly enough, the most "haunted" places on campus they never showed.
p.s. it really is a beautiful campus here :-)

shareIt's a movie, and it's not set at WU... So I doubt they got anything "wrong". They used the location to suit their own purposes.
"Rumble In The Bronx" was shot in Vancouver... Would you say they got Vancouver "wrong"? I can tell you, you don't end up on Pender Street in downtown Vancouver when you get off the bridge from Manhattan, and there are no large mountains in New Jersey (check out the BG view in the parking garage scene)...

shareWow, I'm a 1991 graduate of Winthrop COLLEGE! Yeah, before they changed the name.....was flipping through the channels and saw what looked like McBride.....then they came out the front of Tilman and I was like, "wow, that IS Winthrop!"
There were some segments from the fils "Flight of the Intruder" filmed around campus during my years there. Kind of surreal to see a campus I have yet to visit since graduating....
I'm a Winthrop University graduate of 2002 and while yes film crews shoot to meet their needs, I get what the folks are saying. It was odd in general watching this movie and remembering Tilman, Kinard, McBride etc...so it stands to reason it is a bit distracting when you are familiar with the location and know where everything is and they do change it up. I was thrown when she first walks in the front entrance of Tilman and is immediately shown walking down the hall of the side entrance towards the door that she had just "walked" in. Give the kids a break, it's odd.
shareI get what everybody is saying. That said, the movie is set at a college fictional college. They do that so that they can use the location to fit their needs. They aren't going to get the campus "correctly" to placate the few students from this college that will actually by the dvd. While it may be distracting if you've attended that school, it's not distracting for 99 percent of the people watching the film. We haven't been there.
