Warcraft: A Troubled Attempt at Bringing the Games to the Big Screen

With its stretched narrative, thinly-written characters, and sub-par CGI, “Warcraft” is an adaptation that’s not likely to please long-standing fans of the games or those merely looking for an entertaining fantasy adventure.

Your mother has sub-par testicles.

Cut it out. He's a film critic just posting a Blu-Ray review.

He's what... a film critic? So F what? He can be a Jesus Christ himself and I'll still slag him off for calling sub-par CGI.

Most importantly, I won't be clicking on that $hit. No money for him.

Well, regarding the CGI, the motion capture was top notch but I have seen quite a few people claim that they could see the fakeness of the CGI in those scenes where there orcs were mixed with the live actors for example.

Oh by the way, his review has just been added as a new "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh well, that's Warcraft's first DVD review on RT even though it hasn't been added to that category yet.

yeah and the same ppl who say the CGI of warcaft looks fake say that the turles CGI is top notch.

I think most ppl dont know the difference between cgi and an art style.
And Warcraft has the cartoony artstyle (which they made perfectly) and ppl think that is a fake look. some ppl even say the buildings have bad cgi and then you see that those buildings are actualy real

Yes, I've noticed that. I've seen some people asking why the human's armour had to be CGI (they're real costumes).

Well, first of all, I'm a long time Warcraft fan and I'm happy that at least they adapted the source material fairly faithfully (which is more than what one can say for the majority of other video game adaptations), even if they changed a lot of details. While I recognise that it has it's flaws, what it doesn't seem to get enough credit for is that it does try to tell the perspectives of both sides of the conflict. I don't relate to people who think that their motivations and the plot doesn't make sense, as I didn't have a problem understanding it.

The problem with it was that there was too much cut out. I can see how you can compare it to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" as it suffered from similar issues but I don't see Warcraft as being nearly as bad as that.

This. Since there isn't a "like" button, I'm adding a "me too" post.

Regarding the CGI, I keep wondering whether people would have the same complaints if it had been an all-animated feature. But then, "real actors mixed with live action" spells "movie that can be watched by adults" to US audiences, while "all animated" spells "children's movie." This is arguably unfortunate, but that's the way it is.
