I take back all my negative comments

The first trailers made me believe this was a stinker, and a blatant copy. Most times those movies feel too .... 'animated'.

But Warcraft exceeded every expectation, with a focus more on the narrative than on eye-candy. Decent acting, good effects, great action, decent story, pacing and build-up. The orcs felt very alive and the movie never felt too slow or too rushed. The only minus were some of the casting choises (pretty young wizard and goofy king), but not in a way that it disturbed me.

Can't wait for the sequel!!

I had more problems with the editing in general than casting, although cast is down side as well. But by ignoring that, it's an okay movie. It could've been much better, but it also could've been much worse which I believe nobody wanted it to be.

For idiotic trailers, and promo content in general we can thank to the stoners who've been smoking weed while making them which is why I wouldn't blame you for your lack of interest before seeing the movie. I just hate when people who didn't watched the movie use trailers to talk about disliking the movie.

reply

That goes for every movie. There's always a group of people who hate a movie before of without watching it, or even "boycot" movies. Lets call them a very vocal minority.

Hey!! dont blame the weed, dude, maaannn!

I try to avoid any spoilers/trailers/previews for any movie that i intend to watch in cinema.
I usually only watch about 3 movies in cinema a year, spread out over the year, so i usually dont see any trailers in cinema for movies that i would like to see.
Or.. i just make sure i sit down when the actual movie starts and skip the previews altogether. Casually late because id been smoking a joint outside :P

But yeah, thats my strategy, avoid anything about whatever youre interested in, because promotions all have their own purposes, and you might end up seeing way too much or getting the wrong idea about the content.

Best would be just to show up when it is actually in cinema and create your opinion about the moment of watching the movie, not of what you expected to be seeing because of some poster or trailer months in advance.

But yeah, since promotions are out there, its almost impossible NOT to have an opinion about them, that is why i just try to avoid it all.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

I also went in with low expectations and ended up liking it. I hope we get a sequel but with the way things are going, it's up in the air right now. When did you get to see it?

reply

LOL, today.

Normally I don't rush to imdb, but months ago I wrote a few posts about how horrible the trailers were, and how horrible I expected this to be. So had to correct myself.

reply

Glad you liked it! I did too, and my expectations weren't very high either. Can't wait for the DVD so I can watch it again.
