19 Wins 45 Losses..

Jesus that's bad and off. I think it's slanted a certain way because he's in their hometowns and even in blind tasting you can tell visually which ones Bobbys and their swayed towards the hometown and crowd.

The Bourdain comment from a blog:
BOBBY FLAY: They seem to have noticed Bobby’s strong “negatives” among some viewer responses during focus groups--and decided to respond by subjecting poor Bobby to THROWDOWN; the object of which is to allow every web-fingered geek with a backyard grill--or half-mad muffin maker to proclaim, “I beat Bobby Flay at makin’ barbeque!” at the heart-warming end of show--before returning to tend their meth labs.. I watched poor Bobby battle to a draw recently in some bogus Southwestern “Chili Face-Off.” Now…does ANYONE actually believe that Bobby Flay can’t make a better chili than a supermarket ground beef bearing amateur? I don’t. It’s a cruel exercise in humiliation. A variation on “Dunk Bozo” or “Shoot The Geek,” at the carnival. And whatever I might have thought of Flay’s previous TV efforts, I find the network’s misuse of one of their founding chefs to be nauseatingly cynical. The conspiratorial-minded might be tempted to suspect this as yet another part of the Secret Plan to rid themselves of the annoyingly big ticket chefs--by driving Bobby to quit--or insane with misery. He may not be Mr. Cuddlesworth, but he’s a successful businessman and a good chef--and he doesn’t, after all, need this *beep*

As I've said before, the purpose of this show isn't competition. It's a way to highlight various local chefs in an entertaining format.

No one is holding a gun to Bobby Flay's head to make him do this. This is as much his show as anything I've seen on FN. He isn't afraid of losing such a competition; he knows his own strengths and weaknesses. He actually seems embarrassed when he wins one of these competitions, because the point of the show is to focus on the other guy.

This is no insult to Flay. He's a successful chef. He knows he's good at what he does; he doesn't have anything to prove. The fact that he's willing to do this show makes him a much larger person in my eyes.

I agree with Bourdains blog in original post. What a joke. Shame on Food Network. "Nobody's holding a gun to Flays head" Uhhh you do realize he's signed on with Food Network and they come up with the shows for their chefs. It's not Bobby Flays Network.

You're not serious are you? That isn't how network contracts work. Bobby doesn't just have to appear on whatever shows Food Network tells him to. *facepalm*

no way he wins the fish tacos one!

I wish Bobby won more often. Seriously, his food usually looks SOOO good.
Especially his grilled or fried dishes.
I've seen some real slop win, and I think its because some of the 'judges' were biased...they came from the competitors hometown for example.

Yep. I agree, it looked great!! Sadly, he lost though.
I think one of Bobby's downfalls is he tries too hard to 'change' the recipe.
He needs to be more traditional. Add variety, yet stick to basics.
