Why isn't there much mention of the wounded in the NEWS?

We frequently hear the total death count but there are only rare mentionings of the huge number that are wounded. After watching this show, you can see that the injuries of these soldiers aren't skinned knees. These guys are getting torn up bad.

Because since Vietnam the goverment knows that loosing the media war means loosing the war on the ground.

Stories about the wounded are rare but out there. I recently saw a report about two women soldiers and how they deal with their wounds. One lost her whole right arm (a young redheaded gal who now works at a company that makes artificial limbs) and the other (A young black mother who is still serving in the Army) lost part of her left arm. The story went over the differences between the men and women and how they deal with their wounds, especially loss of limb. The story was also about the reporter herself who was seriously wounded in a IED attack and nearly lost her legs.

As for why stories like this don't get as much coverage as the death toll, I don't know. I guess because our battlefield medicine has improved so much that people just assume that these people are patched up and move on with their lives as normal. I can only assume there is nothing normal about losing a limb or one or more of your senses from battle wounds. I'm blind in one eye and have limited vision in the other from natural causes and I can tell you that alone is a huge impact on my life let alone losing my sight to something as traumatic as a battle wound. These soldiers have nightmares to contend with as well as dealing with wounds that are often physically permanent.

War is hell indeed.
