'Help Me Help You' pulled from schedule

As other's have mentioned, while not officially cancelled by ABC, the show has been pulled from the schedule effective this week. It's an unfortunate turn of events as this show had real promise and was very funny, I felt.

What's doubly sad, at least to me, is that an upcoming episode, "Working Women," which was set to air just after the new year, see's the return of Jane Kaczmarek's Anne character but also is a reunion of sorts, as the episode was directed by Malcolm in the Middle creator, Linwood Boomer. I was a big fan of MITM, on which Jane appeared for seven seasons and I was looking forward to seeing this episode.

I hope ABC airs the remaining 4 episodes at some point and/or relases them on DVD.

Agreed. This show is quite clever and entertaining... It needs more of a chance from ABC.

darn. It was a really promising show as it was sweet, clever and very entertaining! What a damn shame.. I luv this show.

I'm doing the same, leaving it on my TIVO Season Pass...

Maybe ABC didn't give this show enough support -- I've never even heard of it. I'll have to look for it, Ted Danson is likeable enough, and Cheers, as ever, leaves me in stitches. And his post-Cheers stuff has been pretty good.

too bad.. it was a good show that didn't get promoted well. I never heard of the show until it was already airing episodes. I caught the last few minutes of a few episodes and that intrigued me enough to dl a few episodes. I enjoyed the few dl's and decided to dl all of them to catch up. I really enjoyed the series and was looking forward to watching new episodes when they came available. But it seems that won't happen now.

The same thing happened with another ABC series -- "Big Day" -- which turned out to be really funny. They were showing episodes of that series a few times a week (or so it seemed). I kept catching glimpses of it, but I wanted to see it from the beginning since it has a linear storyline. I finally saw all 11 episodes and it was really funny! But alas, it too has been canceled.

ABC keeps killing off all the series that I like -- "Daybreak", "Invasion", "The Nine". Last year, "Invasion" was really good by the end of the season and they dropped it. "Daybreak" definitely should've been given more time.. it reminded me of "Alias" with its non-stop action. "The Nine" was moving too slowly and the story wasn't coming together for me (wasn't living up to the hype)... but it might have done better as the season progressed.

This show, which aired on the Nine Network (www.ninemsn.com.au) in Australia in the Summer non ratings period, was hilarious! It was truely a rarity in American Sitcoms. And that's probably why it isn't successfull, like Arrested Development and to a lesser extent The Loop (both air on the Seven Network (www.yahoo7.com.au) in Aus) it is too good for the main stream, at least in the US.

Yes, Nick, American network TV aims for the lowest common denominator, which is quite LOW. Success here is the likes of American Idol, Survivor, and poorly written, laugh-tracked sitcoms typically. Sad. But at least we have the cable networks and with such, I believe that this is a new Golden Age of American TV. The four major broadcast networks just don't get it, never have, and so will never rise to the occasion and air programming that appeals to more than the LCD of American mentality and culture. I say, fine, let the networks die and allow HBO, Sundance, and Bravo among the others to continue giving us innovation, intelligence, and creativity.

Farewell to "Help Me...", an apt title for the networks who do not listen to those of us who care about good taste and art, hence not allowing us to help them help themselves.

Hey, what's the problem with shows like this being cancelled by ABC???

They have kept "According to Jim" instead!!! and for 8 seasons!!! WONDERFUL!!!
