I agree wholeheartedly. I am just finishing this series on Hulu and I have to say that in the last several years there have been several amazing shows that have been canceled because they don't pull in the ideal numbers, regardless if they have a loyal fan base or are amazing shows. TV has become way too much of a numbers game and not enough about true entertainment. I've been toying with the idea of starting my own network dedicated to viewers instead of advertisers and profit margins. I wouldn't have to make 7 figures to be happy running it, just enough to keep the doors open, produce amazing shows and keep myself and my employees in somewhat comfortable earnings. I really should do it and pick up shows like this that are just so brilliant and amazing that they should have at least seen 2-3 more seasons than they did. Shows like The 4400, Six Degrees and Kyle XY that have truly heartfelt and interesting, complex plots and pull a consistent audience should have a home.
*sigh* Maybe I'll eventually get sick of it enough to look into the venture capital needed to start my network. I think I'd make it an open region streaming online network. That is the future of media anyways, may as well make it richer than broadcast TV could hope to be ;)

Broadcasters and networks really have NO idea what we want... you are right, they are slaves to advertisers and corporate greed... and its time someone did something about this.

Whoever is up there at ABC making these decisions needs to be fired. Seinfeld had poor ratings the first time it aired...
