Where to next?

Where to next?

I have a great idea. Why don't we pretend the day is repeating for everyone except one of us. So we would all watch the episodes again, and post the very same comments, except for one of us, who would know "know" the day is repeating and would post different things and see how that would affect other people's opinions. And then we could frame him for murder. What do you guys think?

Or we could just choose another show. Anyway, in the extremely unlikely chance that someone new has started seeing these posts just now, we're a jolly group of people who likes to watch old TV shows and commenting on them. We've just finished “Day Break,” but you can join in now, and you can participate by helping us choosing the next one.

That being said, all those who wish to continue on to a new show list 2 shows you would like to do next. The guidelines are pretty simple.

1. It should be a one-season show. Special cases outside this rule can be discussed in case an exception should be made.

2. Availability is a tricky little thing. I assume our American friends would prefer it it to be available on Netflix, though that's not entirely necessary, since others may get it from different sources. The important thing is that we try to find a show that is available to everyone.

3. Just as promised when we elected “Day Break,” the other shows that were voted but lost would be remembered in case you want to give them another shot this time. In that election, the other shows that were best voted were, in this order,
1 – Total Recall 2070
2 - Defying Gravity
3 – Jericho
4 - Caprica
5 - The Middleman

4. Suggestions are open and will close on Sunday, February 17th at 10 P.M. That's my 10 P.M, which should be 6 P.M. on your West Coast. Voting will take place from Monday 18th to Thursday 21st. The winner will be announced Friday 22nd. There will be one week off for members to obtain the show and then the following Friday (March 1st) we will start.

4. We ask once something is finally chosen do your best to go with it even if it isn't entirely your cup of tea, it's only one season. We have always been able to come to a consensus.

That's it. We have always managed to find something good about every show we have chosen and as hard as it is to believe, some of us have been doing this since January 07.

What about the "Eleventh Hour"
British version, only four episode would be far the shortest we ever done.

I don't have any suggestions yet, but we did dodge a bullet on my last suggestion: Darkroom. On my trip to LA last November, I took along some episodes to watch on the plane, two each way. Let's just say my memory was not very good, but was very good to that show. On the order of Night Gallery.

I'll try to come up with something better.

Guys, the important thing to remember is that Day Break was great, so probably the next one won't be as good. We can't strike gold every time, and that's OK.

The funny thing about working in two languages is having to switch from one to the other, and sometimes it's confusing. I just wrote a "Supernatural" review for a Brazilian website, and now I've come here. Better connect to my English memory bank now.

Well, this time I'm trying as best as I can to keep away from the cop element as much as possible, and this is why I'm not submitting my usual "Total Recall" candidate, even though it has a totally different tone from Day Break.

This is what I have for us:

1) Dark Skies (1996/97 - 20 episodes): Simply the best X-Files wannabe! A regular couple in the 1960s gets involved with aliens in the 1960s, and we have mention of several historical incidents and, surprisingly, they all have something to do with aliens. (And it's not a joke at all.) It had one season in 1996 and 1997 and I think because the X-Files was such a hit,Dark Skies ended being killed like an evil clone. I watched a few episodes and thought it was really good at the time.

2) Brimstone (1998/99 - 13 episodes): A.k.a "God, the Devil and Bob Gone Much, Much Darker," or "God, the Devil and Ezekiel," or "God, the Devil and Bob Done Right," you name it. This one is about a dead cop (OK, OK so there IS a cop, but I wouldn't really call it a cop show) who catches fugitives from hell. I was going to suggest this one last time, but we'd just had our heaven and hell experience, and it had been more hell than heaven as far as I recall. Perhaps it's still too soon? If it's not, I think this show is quite decent.

1. The Middleman: A struggling artist is recruited by a secret agency to fight against evil forces.

2. Caprica: Two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, live together on a peaceful planet known as Caprica, where a startling breakthrough in artificial intelligence brings about unforeseen consequences.

**** If wlcebtg wants to do the 11th hour and it's only four episodes I have no problem with a quickie.

Gee, I hope we get more than three people casting votes this time. I wish we'd picked someone new from the Day Break board.

We'll see, just got to keep plugging along. I'm surprised we haven't seen btas in a long time. Wlc will chime in before sunday, just doesn't seem to be a whole lot us around anymore but we will persevere.

My two are

Eleventh Hour
Nowhere Man

Maybe somewhere in the future Total Recall 2070, Defying Gravity.

According to my count, we already have 9 nominees, and it looks like four of us voting. Even if we pick our top two, that still means at least one cannot get a single vote. Some of these look good to me, I don't have any better suggestions, and I'd say we have enough, so I'll pass on adding more to the list.

(Oh, by the way, I think we started in January of '08. But that's still a long time!)

Hello again ladies and gentlemen. I got hooked on Day Break and watched everyting in a week:) Wherever you go next, i'll follow (all nominees look promising). Happy voting!

That's great, bistrovogna. Feel free to cast your vote as well. The entry with the official nominees will be posted pretty soon, so just keep an eye on this board.

I just started watching Daybreak myself, and noticed your little group. Pretty cool. I've been watching a bunch of shows over the last couple years, and came across a few good ones that I thought I'd mention because I thought they were worth checking out. I see you guys are on Dark Skies now but you might consider these for the future.

For one season shows that I felt were all very good:

Rubicon
Terriers
Black Donellys
Kidnapped

Two season shows:

Intelligence (Canadian show) - This had two seasons, but I thought I'd mention it because it was fantastic...one of my favorite shows I have watched. It reminded me of The Wire in it's feel. You see the story from a few different angles and it's just very smart and intriguing.

Jericho - Just watched this...I felt it started slow but it just got better and better as it went on...especially starting about midway through season one and especially near the end of season one and season two.

Two newer shows that have had one season that were both great are House of Cards and Orphan Black. Orphan Black was fascinating and very original.

Just noticed your post. We're now on Brimstone--drop by and join us. Or just wait until the first week of November, and we'll be voting on the next series. New blood and new ideas are always welcome!
