As a recyclable concept. A second seasons requires a whole new plot/background and storyline.
This would involve new actors, new twists.
Who would be trapped in a day next time?

*A teenager

*A drug dealer

*A spy

*Mr/Ms Average

however i think all the people who own the rights have canned the show and are unlikely to let anyone else to take it over

They turned it into a movie that's being released in 3 weeks. It's set in the future and there's an alien invasion. And mech suits.
