It is based upon the comic book which they based upon Norse mythology. The comic book had an Asian as that character, so there is no issue with the movie doing the same.
The big question is, does Norse mythology detail each and every last person? Are every one of them seen by the humans who wrote their stories? Did Heimdall ever set foot on earth? Did anyone ever see his "divine" image?
I agree that PC is horrible. I just don't see this as being it. Making James Bond into a black man would be PC.
Somebody up there must like Idris Elba a lot. He plays a norse God here and has been strongly handled as the potential new James Bond. It´s been also rumoured that he could play the lead role for the upcoming biopics about Buda, Gandhi and Christ.
