Is it just me or does Coulson...

... look a lot cooler here than any superhero, even though he isnยดt tall, blonde, blue eyed, nor does he have any superpowers?

In the MCU, Coulson is the ultimate bad-azz. People always underestimate him at their own peril. He's stood up to "gods" before and never seems to wilt under pressure. He also seems to be one step ahead of everyone.

I never got the appeal of Coulson myself. I don't hate him, but I just don't care about him either way, or understand why people (I know there are many!!) think he's so great. To each his own. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

For me, it is his understated power/authority. You expect Nick Fury to kick azz. Same thing with Maria Hill.

Coulson? He's a small, balding, middle-aged white guy. But, he told Stark, "I'll taze you and watch Super Nanny while you drool into the carpet." He's stood up to "gods" before.

He's never flustered. Never shirks his duty. Takes charge. He's got the respect of a "god", Tony, Cap, Fury.

Basically, he's a hero we could all be.

I love Maria Hill. :) Colbie is awesome in that role.

My personal 'we could be him' idol is Batman, but thank you for your insight into why Coulson is other people's 'everyman'. ๐Ÿ˜€

But, I admit, I always prefer the villains. With the only exception being Batman, who many consider the 'anti-hero' as opposed to hero. I also realize I'm in the minority of people who love both Marvel and DC. Why must fandoms be so polarized? Ha!

I actually don't think it is a minority. I think it is more the butt-hurt DC fanboys who know their movies have sucked royally so they have to attack Marvel than it is anything else.

Most Marvel people would be happy if DC started making enjoyable movies and ๎€ฉ at the fact they keep making these dull, morose toned movies.

Their characters deserve better.

I like some of the DC movies, but I do freely admit that the Marvel movies are better. With the exception of Nolan's Batman movies- those are excellent. But I thought Batman vs. Superman was entertaining. It had its flaws (Jesse Eisenberg ๐Ÿ˜ฃ), but I thought overall it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. And Jeremy Irons was a great Alfred. And Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was awesome. I'm anxious to see her movie. And Jason Momoa as Aquaman might make Aquaman cool for once, ha ha!

And what the flip is IMDb doing closing down the message boards?! I like having random conversations with complete strangers about films. This just bloody sucks.

It is definitely his poise, smooth presence and slight intensity (plus the fact that we know he's capable of kicking ass and getting shit done) that makes him shine like very few do. We see a far more human side to him in Agents of Shield, whereas in the movies he's basically this ultra cool and rather mysterious figure. I'm in agreement though, in Thor he's somehow cooler than normal.
